three. It was Bontenmaru's first practice ever since his eye was taken out, and needless to say the lack of practice had not helped the boy's lack of strength at all. Koujurou could only sigh in frustration as the boy tumbled down onto the ground again, a shout escaping him as his back stuck hard against the earth and Bontenmaru landed with a resounding 'thud'.

"You need to train more, Bontenmaru-sama," the retainer chided, swinging up the bokuto over his shoulder and watching his charge pushing himself up, wincing as he tried to straighten his bruised back.

"I know," Bontenmaru all but hissed, seemingly sounding quite displeased as he rubbed at the other various bruises on his body for a moment before getting back up on his feet and steadying himself once more. "You don't need to tell me."

It was strange really, how the meekness and shyness had disappeared so quickly after the removal of his eye, but Koujurou decided not to dwell too much on that. Instead he merely nodded, waiting for the boy to pick his bokuto back up before getting ready again. "Then I will not be holding back, Bontenmaru-sama. Please be ready."

Bontenmaru only makes a snort as he gets ready himself, eye frowned into an intense look of concentration which Koujurou had to approve. "I would be disappointed if you did."

In the end the boy walks away from that duel with a hell lot of bruises and injuries to last for a good long while, but he never shed a single tear of pain for any one of them.
