014 [Public minus one tiny filter against Low Key's old journal | Voice | Not his usual journal]

Mar 15, 2011 11:33

[At first there's nothing but the sound of someone drumming their fingers on the table. He's still rather unsure about this, it does put him in a compromising position. But when he does speak his voice is lower, more serious and it's not Sam's usual Ivonan accent, but a Vohemaro one.]

I'm looking for one Loki, [He heard it as 'Loki' not 'Low Key ( Read more... )

[There's silence for a moment as he realises that she knows. It's a while before he's able to reply calmly.]

He's old. It's all part of ageing and making room for the next generation. [No way is he going to mention that Loki's abilities are tied to the amount of faith people have in him.]

[The only way she'd know is if she was around way back and with that accent...]

You're a Jaeger, aren't you?

As in Low Key Lyesmith? [Hey, it's that new record keeper. He hasn't met Sam yet, though, so it's doubtful he'd recognize him, especially with the accent and tone]

[Sam does keep close tabs on the other crew members and the circumstances surrounding their newest member did intrigue him. But he doesn't know Edgeworth's voice very well yet, so it only sounds vaguely familiar to him.

More importantly, Lie smith? Was he even trying to stay low?]

That's the one!

I don't know much, but here's what I do know. Around thirty years ago, he had dealings with certain pirate and Vohemaro mercenary vessels, thanks to several connections he had in the underworld at the time. His alliances and rivalries shifted quickly, though, and he gained a reputation for being unscrupulous and untrustworthy. In short, business dealings with him were quite a risky venture.

This continued until about...twenty-four years ago, give or take. He settled in the Colvus region for a short time, but left quickly afterward. I'm afraid I know nothing about his activities after this period...save for the fact that he reappeared during the Hanami festival. What's more, he hadn't aged a single year since his days in Colvus.

[The lack of ageing is irrelevant, but to hear that he's been free for at least thirty years? How did no one notice?]

I see. The usual then. I'm aware of his appearance during the Hanami festival. I just missed him though.

Do you know the name of this pirate?

Low Key? Do you mean Low Key Lyesmith, by any chance? The physical descripton fits.

[He's already deduced Loki's current pseudonym from Edgeworth.]

That would be correct.

He was a passenger on my ship for almost a year. He talked our captain into carrying a cargo that could have been dangerous to us. But he escaped left rather abruptly.

You're Vohemaro? I can't quite place the region, though...

[Hisoka is from Bydan, and before that, from southwest of Licere. He has an ear for accents.]

That would be the Serenity? [He knew it had to be either that one of the Amestris and the Serenity seems much more likely.] Do you think you could tell me more about this 'cargo'?

Trewe, considering the number of people who come there from all over, it's understandable that it might be a little hard to place.

Low Key? We had a passenger by that name on the ship I'm working on...and he had red hair too! And...

[A beat. It hadn't really occurred to him before (that's how long he'd spent being locked away inside the manor back in Bellcius)...but those scars really aren't very common, are they? And probably neither was that name...]

Ah...I guess he's probably the same person you're looking for.

Could you tell me what he was like? Did he keep to himself? Were there certain people he tended to hang around?

I have some... let's say unfinished business with him. I presume you're from the Serenity?

[Oh how he wishes that was the reason why he was doing this.]

[Dryly with just the right amount of annoyance to be believable.] Yes, that would be the case.
