It's all so obvious!  The City's purpose, clearly, is to humiliate us to death!  Why didn't I think of it before?

I'd rather think of it as practical. It's difficult, conducting experiments with close relationships constantly underfoot... or I imagine it would be.

Well... yes. Strictly speaking. The Rules aren't all that restrictive for friars, of course...

What's bothersome is that I generally have a relatively good memory, particularly insofar as the sins I need to atone for are concerned.

Perhaps a test could be devised, although there's not really an objective way to tell when the ticking's stopped. Hm...

Really? That's certainly annoying. I was hoping I might be able to chase it away by living in the same general area as someone else, but I may have to resort to keeping a... goldfish or something in my pocket, or somesuch.
