Zack couldn't help but stare at the burning leaves. He had been walking this path to get home before dark but, well, burning leaves. Kind of hard to ignore. Not to mention it was incredibly random and the pyro was still in the area just watching his handy work. "Wow, what'd the leaves do to you?" He couldn't help but ask, walking up to the other man.
Nero, who was practically mesmerized by the flames, hadn't noticed the younger boy until he spoke. At his question, he turned his head and blinked the light-induced spots out of his eyes before responding. "They existed," he answered casually, like the fact that he took such a drastic measure wasn't a big deal. "Hell, I'd even take snow over these at this point."
"Well, winter is approaching," Zack replied with a grin. Then again, he never saw snow so he didn't know what it would be like. Other than cold. He tilted his head at the burning leaves again. "Why does their existence bother you anyway? I mean, they aren't that much of an inconvenience and all."
His sarcasm is dead to this kid, so he'll just try another approach here. Friendliness. Except, his version of friendliness isn't exactly friendly, not that he really cared anyway. He turned to look at the black-haired youth with a perplexed expression momentarily before it shifted into a somewhat lopsided grin. "What, you don't find the fact that they're raining from the sky randomly annoying?" He scratched the back of his head absently, eyes shifting back toward his fire. "This place is too quirky, it's ridiculous."
Seiji couldn't keep himself inside all the time, as much as he wanted to sometimes. Going outside and seeing the roads, buildings, and greenery becoming gradually familiar to him angered him. He didn't want to be here. He had to be home in Ikeburuko with her. Every day in this dream world or whatever the hell it was was one more away from her. Now he was getting bored of cooping himself up in his place, so all he could do was trade one less than ideal setting for another.
The revving of an engine broke the silence on his walk. He looked around, finding a white-haired man at a pile of burning leaves. "Raking them into piles doesn't get rid of them completely," he said as he stopped by to look. For whatever reason, seeing the fire put a smirk on his face. Maybe it was because he hated still being here so much, it made him happy to see part of it burn, even if it was a simple pile of leaves.
Burning a part of this place was just as satisfying to the starter as it was to the observer. He wanted nothing more than to be back home where he belonged, where he, as well, could be the one he loved so dearly. That was a contributor to his annoyance here, the leaves having been the last straw. Violence was the way he could cope with these kinds of things, it served as both a vent and a motivator. Believe it or not, setting fire to a pile of leaves was a pretty tame gesture for him, the fact that he carried around a visible gun and sword was non-verbal testament to that.
"Raking leaves isn't my style," he responded to the onlooker nonchalantly with a small shrug. He craned his neck to stare through clear blue eyes at who he was talking to for a brief moment, before turning back with a snort. He lifted his arms in a welcoming gesture toward the fire. "This kind of physical labour is, and it's a hell of a lot more effective."
Seiji didn't take to violence unless the situation warranted it. Causing a scene could land him in the wrong side of the law, which would result in all sorts of unfortunate consequences for him and her. The last thing he wanted to do was leave her alone or trouble her. That was less of an issue here, obviously, but it would take time for him to learn to act out if he ever so desired. For now, he would settle for venting his frustration vicariously through the fire the other man set.
He moved in closer, feeling the flames' heat tickle his skin. "These leaves are too much," he said, dotting it with a scoff. He raised his head. "I wouldn't mind them all burning if that wasn't so dangerous." Worse than supposedly being stuck here would be to die here. He'd have no chance of returning in that state.
Unfortunate consequences he could understand, but back home this guy might as well have been the law. Even though he wasn't by title, there was nothing really keeping him from collapsing a building or spitting in the face of those actually deemed authority. It wasn't like they could do anything against him, personally, and should they ever go after his girl things would just get far worse. For them, anyway. Which is why he didn't even consider the fact that this fire could spread wildly, or that it might catch the attention of the law enforcement here. It just didn't matter.
"Controlling the fire wouldn't be an issue for me," he replied, sounding just as cocky as he looked. It was true, since one fell swoop of his sword, the one that started the blaze, could easily put it out as well. "So there's nothing stopping me from setting every damn pile off." Luckily for everyone in Espoir though, that would require effort that he wasn't willing to expend on such a meaningless task.
[ The smell of burning leaves hits her first, then the sight of them, and the fact that there's someone nearby... She doesn't initially click to the idea that he intentionally set the pile on fire-- who does that anyway? With how many leaves there are everywhere, it would've been easy to cause some kind of large-scale blaze. Instead she hurries over, a water spell already forming in her hands. ]
Watch out!
[ And then there is water, all over the pile and likely all over Nero. Angela looks satisfied, one large fire and messy death prevented! ]
[And then there is a yell, which he disregards until there is water. All over him. Before the weather was just brisk, but now he's chilled to the bone. Pissed too.
He stomps his foot angrily, somewhat childishly, and starts picking at his layers with his claws. He growls.]
You've gotta be kidding me... what the hell did I do to deserve this?
[That's practically a shout, by the way. Curse words can also be heard under his breath, as well as irritated groans, moans and sighs. Soo not happy.]
Sorry for the delay, school went all nutso on me!witchmakerNovember 24 2010, 02:16:36 UTC
[ Angela heads over to make sure the fire is out, and stomps one leaf that escaped her water spell. She props her hands on her hips and looks over at Nero. ] Hey, be more careful, could've caught your coat on fire.
Nero hadn't seen the girl since he had helped her that one time. It wasn't in his nature to check up on people, he did whatever he wanted and in turn he allowed them to do the same. So it wasn't to his surprise that he hadn't seen her. Not the best situation to for idle chat either, but the fire felt nice so he couldn't be bothered with a change in scenery.
"I thought that was obvious," he responded casually with a smirk, gesturing toward the fire with outstretched arms. He was pretty much telling her that he had started the fire, and even communicating that it didn't really faze him. Fire wasn't a big deal, no way. Even should it spread, it still wouldn't pose a threat to him.
He stepped closer, holding his hands out in front of it for warmth, regarding her over his shoulder. "And what are you doing here, Lenalee?" He added, speaking loud enough so his voice could be heard over the loud crackling of the flames. Throwing questions back and making light of potentially dangerous situations was so totally his style, being a bad ass
( ... )
Lenalee cradled her head to the side, with a surprised "Eh?". Yes, it was kind of obvious but Lenalee couldn't understand why Nero would do something like that. Still, Lenalee wasn't the one to ask such things very often.
That smirk of Nero, it kind of both suited him and didn't at the same time, she thought. Then, she started to walk towards him to get closer, so that they wouldn't have to yell too much to be heard by the other. She still owed Nero and he was already a nice guy, so she didn't mind having a little chat with him there.
"I'm just looking roaming around to get more familiar. I've never been to this place before. It's called Espoir, isn't it?" she replied with a small laugh at his question.
He did it for several reasons, including his annoyance, his hate for this place and his naturally destructive mindset. He couldn't help it, fighting was the way he kept his strength, anger and arrogance in check back home but since attacking scarecrows here could only entertain for so long, he had to get creative.
"Yeah, this is Espoir alright," he responded with a shrug, seemingly unimpressed with the area. It was too quaint, devoid of the demonic inhabitants and cryptic architecture from Fortuna, the only things that kept that place interesting. He leaned in closer to the fire, rubbing his hands only for a moment, before stepping back. "How're you liking it here? Any problems?"
Now that she was here, asking wouldn't hurt. He might as well have, since despite hardly knowing the girl, he still didn't want her inconvenienced in any way. What a gentleman

Roast... potatoes?
[He has no idea what she's talking about, that much is clear.]

Heh. Obviously not for whatever reason you think I'm burning them for.
