Lenalee was out for a not-so-short walk. She was still trying to get to learn all the places. She didn't want to use her boots still, since they would attract even more attention in daylight. Besides, she wouldn't be able to view everything closely. As she was lost in thought, her mind full of the longing for seeing her friends in her world, even just for once, she didn't notice that she was close to Espoir already.
A sharp smell of something burning took her away from her thoughts abruptly, and made her look around to see where it was coming from. She rushed to the area where there were lots of burning leaves, only to see a white haired person who had helped her a month ago.
"Nero? What are you doing here?" she asked. She couldn't even think of saying anything more pleasant because of the surprise.
Nero hadn't seen the girl since he had helped her that one time. It wasn't in his nature to check up on people, he did whatever he wanted and in turn he allowed them to do the same. So it wasn't to his surprise that he hadn't seen her. Not the best situation to for idle chat either, but the fire felt nice so he couldn't be bothered with a change in scenery.
"I thought that was obvious," he responded casually with a smirk, gesturing toward the fire with outstretched arms. He was pretty much telling her that he had started the fire, and even communicating that it didn't really faze him. Fire wasn't a big deal, no way. Even should it spread, it still wouldn't pose a threat to him.
He stepped closer, holding his hands out in front of it for warmth, regarding her over his shoulder. "And what are you doing here, Lenalee?" He added, speaking loud enough so his voice could be heard over the loud crackling of the flames. Throwing questions back and making light of potentially dangerous situations was so totally his style, being a bad ass and all.
Lenalee cradled her head to the side, with a surprised "Eh?". Yes, it was kind of obvious but Lenalee couldn't understand why Nero would do something like that. Still, Lenalee wasn't the one to ask such things very often.
That smirk of Nero, it kind of both suited him and didn't at the same time, she thought. Then, she started to walk towards him to get closer, so that they wouldn't have to yell too much to be heard by the other. She still owed Nero and he was already a nice guy, so she didn't mind having a little chat with him there.
"I'm just looking roaming around to get more familiar. I've never been to this place before. It's called Espoir, isn't it?" she replied with a small laugh at his question.
He did it for several reasons, including his annoyance, his hate for this place and his naturally destructive mindset. He couldn't help it, fighting was the way he kept his strength, anger and arrogance in check back home but since attacking scarecrows here could only entertain for so long, he had to get creative.
"Yeah, this is Espoir alright," he responded with a shrug, seemingly unimpressed with the area. It was too quaint, devoid of the demonic inhabitants and cryptic architecture from Fortuna, the only things that kept that place interesting. He leaned in closer to the fire, rubbing his hands only for a moment, before stepping back. "How're you liking it here? Any problems?"
Now that she was here, asking wouldn't hurt. He might as well have, since despite hardly knowing the girl, he still didn't want her inconvenienced in any way. What a gentleman
