The shout took Rise by surprise. She had decided to take a short stroll around the village when she heard it and decided to make her way towards the origin. There she saw a redhead standing close to the fountain looking rather proud? Determined? She couldn't exactly place it at first.
Perhaps the boy was new and finding himself in an unfamiliar place had confused him. That seemed to be the norm for the newcomers in Somarium anyway. She was the same when she arrived so long ago, after all.
She slowly approached him, tapping lightly on his shoulder hoping that she wouldn't surprise him too much. "If you're looking for someone -- Beato, was it -- they might not be here."
He turned at the tapping, and paused for a moment. … If all the girl’s in his dreams were this cute, maybe they weren’t all that bad~
--But, he pauses at her words. That’s right, there was probably a chance that even she wouldn’t appear before him in his dreams. After they last spoke with one another-
“Hey, there.” Battler offers a greeting towards the girl. His shoulders slump as if to finally relax, offering a smile. “Ihihihi.” He laughs. “Guess not. Sorry, sorry. I’m used to some pretty weird things back at home. Ending up in a place like this definitely isn’t the most twisted thing that’s happened.”
"Hey," she said, returning the smile. Rise couldn't help but notice how cute this guy was now that she got a good view of him. Somarium really had good taste in choosing who to bring in sometimes, she had to give it that much.
Slowly, she steps back, her smile not faltering. It was a little refreshing seeing someone who seemed new not panic about the whole situation. From her experience, most people would try to find out how to get home almost immediately. "Yeah, I know what you mean. It's almost like everyone here has got some kind of story to tell."
She gave him a small nod before continuing. "Welcome to Somarium."
"--So, it's not just me from another place? Sounds pretty screwed up." Despite the words, there's a smile on his face. Always friendly, though somewhat awkward to those new to him - the expression never faltered from his face, either. Though, there's a bit of wariness there are well. He... couldn't afford to waste time in a place like this, not with his current predicaments back at home.
Ange had not been in this bizarre world for very long. She had spoken to a few residents since she had arrived, one of them being that infuriating witch herself, Beatrice. For whatever reason, by some stroke of luck, the Endless Witch hadn't known her. Ange still hadn't quite figured out that puzzle, and for the time being had taken the stance that the witch was bluffing.
She had finally ventured into the nearby town, Espoir, since it didn't seem that she was going to be leaving this world any time soon. The crimson-haired young woman frowned, her eyes narrowing slightly as she looked around for a hint, an idea of what to do next. If she was staying for a while, she would have to find somewhere to-
Her thoughts grinded to a halt as she glanced past the fountain, and saw who was standing there. Ange's mouth fell open slightly, and she stared in shock at the person she was most concerned about now.
Battler turns at the sound of his voice, of course, even if they had been by one another’s side briefly in Purgatory, he would recognize that voice easily - even more so since that memory of her final moments was still so familiar to him. It wasn’t something he would easily forget-rather, the time when he could still feel the moment when she had died. He had screwed up before, but he wouldn’t do it again--!
He pauses. “N… No way. Ange?” Even his dreams were way too twisted, even for him--He’s been around Beato for too long. “Even you’re here in a weird dream like this…!”
Ange sighed softly when she saw that Battler was safe and perfectly normal, unlike the "forgetful" Beatrice, but frowned slightly at his statement.
"Unless we're both having the same dream, I don't think you're dreaming," she said. She was relieved to see him okay, but felt slightly awkward, since the last time she had seen her brother was when she was being torn to shreads.
"What's the last thing you remember?" she asked seriously, feeling that this was the most pressing question at the moment.

“Not a dream? But that’s-“ The scene was still too fresh in his memory. Still, even in a dream, he was relieved to see her alive - safe. “-Impossible.”
Ah-this dream was useless--! Even if this was a dream-there was still that part of him that couldn’t tell her that he hadn’t fulfilled her promise yet-that he still had things back in his game he still needed to take care of before he could go back-
“-Ange-“ He couldn’t form the words quite easily. He’d seen his family die in front of him too many times-witnessed their deaths and feeling helpless every time-but she had been right there, right in front of him, and he had been able to do nothing to stop. The moment when she revealed who she was to him - the moment he stopped suspecting her was what had given her the strength he needed again to get back up on his feet. It was enough for him want to reach forward just to see if she was there - if she was real. “-I screwed up.”
Beatrice for all her arrogance still had a lot to learn of this place. This girl named 'Ange' claimed to know her, and seemed to think she was lying! Such disrespect. It displeased her slightly but she wasn't one to easily let it ruin her plans for this gameboard or the next. As she always did, she lingered around; a silent unseen entity in Somarium's locations, keen eyes observing each and every newcomer, wondering in vain if he would appear.
And her vain thoughts came true, finally.
She felt pleasure, but more than that, anticipation. Their game surely would continue even here. Even in such a new place. She couldn't rest until he acknowledged her. Only then would victory be sweet..
It was pointless hiding in the air. She appeared before him just like that, pipe in her mouth, amused by his discomfort.
"A joke, Battlerrr? Surely you have more sense than to assume that I'd so easily take you from our gameboard! " She cackled pleasantly, a part of her genuinely glad to see her opponent.
It wasn’t to say that Battler didn’t get along with Beatrice at times, but their relationship from the time he was from was far from peaceful. After she had begged for him to kill her - after skewering her repeatedly with words of blue truth; he had killed her physical form. Yet, it hadn’t been enough to fufill what he had promised to her.
But, it wasn’t just for her, but Ange as well. For his little sister that sacrificed herself for the sake of having a future to return to her family.
Yet, despite their mutual relationship as opponents - there were still too many things - far too many things that Battler didn’t know about her. Why was she doing this? For what purpose?
His brows furrow when she appears before him. Dammit, so she was here, too? Though, there’s that brief feeling of relief that washes over him. So, at least there was something here he could recognize--
“Give me a break. Only someone like you would be responsible for something like this.”
Beatrice chuckled only, waving her pipe around once as she offered him a coy smirk. "Really Battler, what motive would I have for removing you from my gameboard? Especially when it's getting so interesting! I thought you were a bit sharper than thaaat. " She cackled mockingly, before her smirk widened.
"Will this satisfy you? I did not bring you to this world!" She announced, still thoroughly amused. Sure, this world was hardly accomodating to one such as herself, but just the same, if Battler was here perhaps things would be more entertaining, no, they definitely would.
"I have no desire to remain here when our game is afoot, truly irritating!" She waved her pipe again with closed eyes before looking him over.
"Want to know where you are, you fool? Or will you continue to deny my words?"
