Ange had not been in this bizarre world for very long. She had spoken to a few residents since she had arrived, one of them being that infuriating witch herself, Beatrice. For whatever reason, by some stroke of luck, the Endless Witch hadn't known her. Ange still hadn't quite figured out that puzzle, and for the time being had taken the stance that the witch was bluffing.

She had finally ventured into the nearby town, Espoir, since it didn't seem that she was going to be leaving this world any time soon. The crimson-haired young woman frowned, her eyes narrowing slightly as she looked around for a hint, an idea of what to do next. If she was staying for a while, she would have to find somewhere to-

Her thoughts grinded to a halt as she glanced past the fountain, and saw who was standing there. Ange's mouth fell open slightly, and she stared in shock at the person she was most concerned about now.

"...Battler!"

Battler turns at the sound of his voice, of course, even if they had been by one another’s side briefly in Purgatory, he would recognize that voice easily - even more so since that memory of her final moments was still so familiar to him. It wasn’t something he would easily forget-rather, the time when he could still feel the moment when she had died. He had screwed up before, but he wouldn’t do it again--!

He pauses. “N… No way. Ange?” Even his dreams were way too twisted, even for him--He’s been around Beato for too long. “Even you’re here in a weird dream like this…!”

Ange sighed softly when she saw that Battler was safe and perfectly normal, unlike the "forgetful" Beatrice, but frowned slightly at his statement.

"Unless we're both having the same dream, I don't think you're dreaming," she said. She was relieved to see him okay, but felt slightly awkward, since the last time she had seen her brother was when she was being torn to shreads.

"What's the last thing you remember?" she asked seriously, feeling that this was the most pressing question at the moment.

“Not a dream? But that’s-“ The scene was still too fresh in his memory. Still, even in a dream, he was relieved to see her alive - safe. “-Impossible.”

Ah-this dream was useless--! Even if this was a dream-there was still that part of him that couldn’t tell her that he hadn’t fulfilled her promise yet-that he still had things back in his game he still needed to take care of before he could go back-

“-Ange-“ He couldn’t form the words quite easily. He’d seen his family die in front of him too many times-witnessed their deaths and feeling helpless every time-but she had been right there, right in front of him, and he had been able to do nothing to stop. The moment when she revealed who she was to him - the moment he stopped suspecting her was what had given her the strength he needed again to get back up on his feet. It was enough for him want to reach forward just to see if she was there - if she was real. “-I screwed up.”

So. He remembered. She lowered her gaze, regretful that he had been able to see her in such a pitiful state, and after that was all she had been able to do for him. The crimson-haired teenager grit her teeth, mentally cursing Beatrice and her twisted game for ever doing this to her family.

"...You promised to keep going. That's the important thing," she said finally, not meeting his gaze. Yes, he had lost sight of what he was fighting for back then, but he had certainly realized it now. If this was the same Battler she had been holding on to in her final moments...she had nothing to criticize him for.
