Dist's doom senses had been going off for quite some time, ever since the previous day when he noticed the abundance of boxes appearing around Jade's apartment. Because clearly anywhere Jade stayed obviously belonged to him - Jade was no freeloader. These boxes could only mean one thing, and he did not like it.

It was for this reason that he took the first opportunity he could to race back to his laboratory before anyone noticed. He kept a small Somarillow back in his 'room', but he doubted the miniature robot would be able to deceive the others for long.

Well, it might fool Peony, as the emperor was undoubtedly a dullard, but Jade would eventually catch on. It wasn't as if the others would notice the Kaiser Dist sneaking off, it's lumbering mechanical joints creaking as it cracked the earth underfoot.

Unfortunately for Dist it appeared that luck was not in his favor. It would seem that fate ensured that Jade was not far away from the dragon fonmachine as it stomped along like an actor in a monster costume looking for a cardboard city. The Colonel paused when he heard the commotion, holding a small box in his arms. Certainly Dist could have been moving his things to the mansion, but Jade knew better. As such he made sure to stand directly in front of the Kaiser Dist's path.

Busted.

Dist grimaced from inside the cockpit of the Kaiser Dist SM, forced to make the behemoth stop in order to avoid stepping on the fonist. He fidgeted anxiously, not that Jade could see, before trying to make his mechanical monstrosity 'discreetly' try to step around Jade.

Jade had to admit that the mansion Peony found was quite adequate for their needs. He had taken the morning to appraise every room and made a mental inventory of all current furnishings. It would seem that there would be more than enough rooms for all of them, with plenty more should there be any other visitors from Auldrant. Of course during his exploration he managed to select one of the largest bedrooms for himself ( ... )

Needless to say, the abrupt changes in layout did nothing to ease Peony into the idea of completely enjoying this mansion. The Palace back home had the kitchen in the far right, had all the bedrooms on the left, and this one. Oh, this one was a mismatched mess. That didn't mean that Peony disliked it because it wasn't as organized. Of course not, he was the King of Messes, to begin with. He just didn't like having to relearn the layout. A small thing, but what can you do.

And as fate would have it, or really just the chance of wandering around aimlessly... the Emperor himself stumbled upon one of his oh-so devoted subordinates. Or well, Jade.

"Liking it so far, Jade? Or is it not dark enough for you?" A smirk, and a lazy Emperor leaning against the wall.

Ah, speak of the devil, as they say... Jade turned to smile at Peony as one finger pushed the rim of his glasses upward. "Not at all," he said, his tone ever cheerful. "In fact I was just thinking that you should be commended for finding a place suitable to house all of us. Although I suppose it's no wonder that an emperor would inherently know how to find a suitable palace."
