Dist's doom senses had been going off for quite some time, ever since the previous day when he noticed the abundance of boxes appearing around Jade's apartment. Because clearly anywhere Jade stayed obviously belonged to him - Jade was no freeloader. These boxes could only mean one thing, and he did not like it.
It was for this reason that he took the first opportunity he could to race back to his laboratory before anyone noticed. He kept a small Somarillow back in his 'room', but he doubted the miniature robot would be able to deceive the others for long.
Well, it might fool Peony, as the emperor was undoubtedly a dullard, but Jade would eventually catch on. It wasn't as if the others would notice the Kaiser Dist sneaking off, it's lumbering mechanical joints creaking as it cracked the earth underfoot.
Unfortunately for Dist it appeared that luck was not in his favor. It would seem that fate ensured that Jade was not far away from the dragon fonmachine as it stomped along like an actor in a monster costume looking for a cardboard city. The Colonel paused when he heard the commotion, holding a small box in his arms. Certainly Dist could have been moving his things to the mansion, but Jade knew better. As such he made sure to stand directly in front of the Kaiser Dist's path.
Dist grimaced from inside the cockpit of the Kaiser Dist SM, forced to make the behemoth stop in order to avoid stepping on the fonist. He fidgeted anxiously, not that Jade could see, before trying to make his mechanical monstrosity 'discreetly' try to step around Jade.
"Ah," Dist paused as his mind struggled to think of an appropriate response. There was a chance Jade didn't suspect anything, but it was far more likely that Jade was merely toying with him and was very much aware that the fontechnician was trying to escape. He needed to be very careful. "...O-of course. I'll certainly get right on that, once I return from my little errand. It's quite pressing, you understand, and requires my attention elsewhere. Can't be avoided, really."

This certainly gave Jade a strong indication of just how determined Dist was to avoid living under the same roof as him and the others if the God-General could turn down such an offer. Clearly Jade had to resort to stronger measures.
"I see," Jade said without the slightest hint of disappointment to his tone. "Such a shame. I suppose in that case I'll have to see if His Majesty is willing to fill your position."
Dist twitched. He knew it was just a trick, but the very thought of Peony replacing him for anything was absolutely infuriating. He had to remind himself that Jade was just trying to ensnare him! Willpower, Dist! Willpower!
"...W-well, I s-suppose if even t-that emperor could perform the task, it wasn't that... that... important." Dist said through clenched teeth.
Jade was privately amazed at Dist's display of willpower. He almost considered letting the God-General have his way, but then the Colonel wouldn't be able to keep an eye on Dist if the fontechnician made a base of operations too far away.
Jade faked a sigh of remorse and leaned against his hand. "Perhaps, but I'm afraid that Nephry might find it awkward if His Majesty helped her with her bedroom."
"N-naturally!" Dist replied, with a sharp nod. Of course, Jade couldn't see it as the fontechnician was still in the cockpit of his behemoth robot. "This place is far too dangerous for Nephry! The cannibals, the monsters, that emperor, everything!" It was far too dangerous for him and he was the most renowned God-General in all of Daath! Not that he'd openly admit to such weakness, especially not to Jade. "What did you have in mind?"
Jade smiled at Dist's cooperation and the fact that he had the God-General nibbling at the bait. Now to reel Dist in. "I was wondering if you could make a fonmachine to protect her. Perhaps another Kaiser Dist." He paused for a moment to let the proposal sink in. "Of course you'll need to discuss the particulars with Nephry before you decide on what might best suit her needs."
"A fonmachine?" Dist repeated, thoughtfully. Well, he certainly could handle such a thing. There's no doubt that Nephry'd be safe with one of his fonmachines guarding her. However, to do complete the project, he'd need his supplies from his laboratory.
...Which was where he was trying to sneak away to.
"Ah!" Dist's eyes widened. He had almost fallen for Jade's trick! Though, it certainly gave him excuse enough to leave - and not come back. How clever of him to use Jade's own trap against him! "Er, ah, yes. Yes, of course. I won't need to bother Nephry about the details, I've more than enough ideas of my own. I'll just head to my laboratory and get right on that."
Jade wasn't about to let Dist escape so easily. "Actually I was hoping that you could discuss the matter with Nephry," Jade said as he made sure to stand between the Kaiser Dist SM and the path to Dist's laboratory. "I'm afraid I haven't suggested the idea to her yet. I was hoping that you could use your enthusiasm for the task to show her how useful your fontech can be."
Stroking Dist's ego might not have been among Jade's favorite things to do, but it usually worked as a distraction.
Curses, now what was he supposed to do? His need to escape and his ego were at war, with his concern over Nephry goading the two on.
Naturally, for his own safety, he needed to avoid this situation completely. However, protecting Nephry was very important. And he certainly didn't want to give the impression that he didn't care, most certainly not!

Curses! Jade obviously meant for this to happen!
"I, ah... that is to say..."
