"My sense of smell isn't as good as some of yours even when transformed." Roland shook his head but changed anyway. Indra turned its head to one side, then the other. He could pick out nothing different on the wind, nothing to help locate their lost comrade.
Nodding, the feminine demon slithered forward to join her companion, her sightless face turning from side to side. The air was calmer than it had been earlier, though the variety of scents in the area was far too overpowering to single out only one. Heat's scent was here, of that she was certain, but it felt faint enough to have been very old.
"He's been here...Though the trail must be at least a few days old..."
"We need the most recent." Gale stood up to his full height, feet planted firmly on the ground this time. He traveled further down the road, away from the desert entrance. Still too many scents. They needed a less-traveled area to be able to catch it.
"The alleys will yield more results than the main streets. Split up, and move towards Espoir as you continue. If you catch a scent that seems recent, report it on the Dreamberry immediately."
Indra wasn't built for tracking, and Roland wasn't sure if he'd even be able to find anything to report. He could only barely pick out an individual scent for Heat to begin with. Still, he nodded and began moving away from the others, hoping they'd have a better time with this than he did.
