It was a well-known fact that Ino hated waiting. Whether she was waiting for something to arrive on her doorstep or for someone to come meet her somewhere, she couldn't stand to sit around and do nothing; she was, after all, above that kind of ( Read more... )

It didn't take that long for him to arrive, at least, not as long as it could've. He would've taken a more leisurely pace if he was going to meet anyone other than Ino. Because anyone other than Ino would have a better sense of patience and wouldn't resort to yelling every time something didn't go their way. And Shikamaru really knew better than to irk the Yamanaka heiress, he'd learned along the years when to keep his mouth shut and when to walk at a faster pace ( ... )

No matter how quickly he had managed to reach the plaza, it wasn't nearly quickly enough for Ino. Although she had felt slightly hesitant about answering the many questions that she just knew were going to be thrown her way, there was no denying that a part of her was looking forward to seeing her teammate again. She would never admit it, of course, but it was true. It was almost like bringing a bit of normalcy back into a ridiculous situation; a constant substituted into an equation, if you will. A frustrating constant, but a constant all the same ( ... )

Huh. How quickly she went from contemplative to surprisingly quiet to aleady criticizing him was beyond him. Admittedly, there was only a few seconds in between each. He had to admit that pause she took confused him, though. Normally Ino would snap at him without a moment's hesitation, it was kinda different today. Which probably meant that something was amiss with her, and that would mean he would probably hear about it later ( ... )

She may have known that such questions were going to be asked, but she had been hoping to postpone it just a bit. A bit. But no; in came Shikamaru, not even caring to ask her how she was or how she had managed to make it all by herself. Not that she had really expected anything so great from him, but... a girl could dream, right?

But besides that, was he actually... demanding her to do something? Her scowl only grew larger. He may have been the brains of their little three-man cell, and yes, she listened to him when the time called for it, and yet having anyone bark orders at her--besides her superiors--was something Ino did not like. Even if what he was asking was perfectly sensible, which it certainly was, she still didn't care for it. If anyone was going to be demanding, it was going to be her.

"Excuse me?" she huffed; she was going to wind up answering questions, she knew, and the sooner they were asked, the sooner they would be over with, but... she wasn't about to let him get away with ordering her around. Not there, ( ... )
