It was a good sign that the hosts of this event were prepared with the topics and subject matter right away, and that they seemed to understand the finer points of survival, right down to the vitamins. Rory could admire Lady Kasuga's conduct and control, and she held herself like an aristocrat. Those were definitely traits needed to hold sway over a group of potentially dangerous, frantic survivors and maintain order, but it still did nothing toward trust. She was simply too good at what she did, and Rory would be sure to keep her actions and words in mind ( ... )

Ares, sporting an elegant blue gown and an up-do, rose smoothly to her feet, her hands folded in front of her and her chin high with the ere of one who knows exactly what they are talking about. "Our grove is unusually prolific with the local fruit. Although we ourselves have no way to test the specific nutritional content of this resource, it stands to reason that it would contain a fair quantity of the vitamin C, which is necessary to most creatures to heal injuries and defend against sickness. The fruit is somewhat fragile however and is not likely to transport well between the encampments, for this reason it may be optimal to press the surplus fruit for wine, so that it can be preserved and transported more reliably ( ... )

Booker cleared his throat and raised his cup to the group. "We live at an abandoned military base. As such, we still have a nice selection of canned foods and MREs. We're also on the ocean but haven't tried fishing ourselves. If it's as profitable as you say, then we'll probably be trying it soon. We have a pregnant lady to care for and she's eating for two. Odessa has also been able to get a small hydroponics started growing Earth-style plants rather than these gima things. It might be worth it to hunt down more seeds and try getting something set up to grow them. You'll probably need magic or electricity to get them to grow though ( ... )

Sam was still in a bit of awe at some of the gorgeous clothes these people managed to pull out of the rubble. Kitty had responded by using a private moment to shift back to the costume he had arrived in, all spiffed up and shiny. He knew he looked out of place, but Emily Post said that a required uniform was never impolite. He was still operating under the directive to maintain one's secret identity in cases of unwilling dimensional transport if possible ( ... )

Ani sat cross legged, casually sipping tea. He was dressed in the fancy duds he'd arrived in, now free of blood-stains and cuts thanks to the Fountain people, silk and wool, linen and leather. There was certainly an interesting assemblage here. He'd tried to position himself across the circle from Ares, to avoid the awkwardness of her aura, but that just gave him a good view of the lovely ladies sitting around the stony-faced magical boy ( ... )
