The situation was much as Niji thought. Three sites seem to be functional for survival and tentatively open to sharing resources for a price. The other two would be problems. The yearning evident in Flicker and Ani's comments decided what the next issue would be.

"These two bring up a good point. If we have survival in hand, then exploration by a few becomes viable. Are we at that point? If so, whom do we send? What shall they seek?"

The Lady gave a determined smile to the delegates. "What do you say?"

"If we can come to a regular trade agreement at this conference, I do believe we should make exploration our next highest priority." Tyr leaned forward, trying to speak clearly for all to hear. "As stated a moment ago, we do not know the reason for the original inhabitants disappearance, the cause of which could constitute a high threat if we are unknowing and unprepared. Finding out why and what could be just as crucial to our continued survival as shelter and a regular food supply ( ... )

Leirian was pleased. For the most part, people's words echoed at least their surface thoughts, though Rory's kept taking strange turns. That was hardly his problem so long as they did not turn towards hurting those under his care ( ... )

Robin sat very patiently and listened to the humans talk. He wasn't really sure why he should be here, because the things that humans seemed to need rather mystified him, but the Flicker had seemed to think that it was important for Robin to help him represent the Airport. When things had become rather quiet and he saw Sam glance at him, he realized that it must be his turn to add to the conversation ( ... )
