To her surprise Niji received a response nearly immediately. As she listened to the message from this K person her face bent to a frown. Another injury, another unknown. How could she bring in newcomers to swell her ranks while not opening her community up to another incident like yesterday's debacle

A sound like a sigh brushed across her mind, exasperation crossed with a sense of duty. "I will ask The Yellow Flicker to accompany me. He seems to fancy himself a hero, and Lady Deville is doing useful work."

Catching the undertones of her worry, he added "If the newcomer proves- undesirable company, may I have permission to dispose of him as needed?" The killing of other people had never actually been anything Leirian had a problem with. He had been trained to do so since childhood. But the taking of a life was not something he took joy in either. It had been his job. And so he ran the idea past his current 'superior', as he might have his previous one.

You are wise for your age, Kororen-kun. I trust your judgment in this. I want no repeat of yesterday's difficulties. The Flicker may raise argument to any disposal, however. The man is far too noble a hero. I doubt he believes in killing as a viable solution.

Niji let a small cold smile cross her lips. Be subtle as a Scorpion if the need arises, and I doubt the fool will even notice. It was so nice to work with someone who was practical about these things.

"Hnn.... Hopefully this newbie will prove to be something less lethal to those around them. I can't blame the other newcomer, though. Sometimes you can't control things about yourself, let alone what happens in a crowd

Niji bowed her head and waved off the gratitude. "I was being selfish, my dear. I sleep much better with you near. I am delighted to have been of service to you as well." She laughed, a musical tinkle with come-hither undertones. "Besides, it cleared our room so exhausted refugees from the hospital could rest there."

A puzzled look crossed her face. "Not that I recall seeing any of them up today."

She looked over at the pile of her clothing. "I think I had better check on our room and our guests. I need to take my new clothing there anyway and try them on for fit. Of course, Kororen-kun had a hand in the making, so I presume they will be beautiful."

Niji was a bit concerned about his commentary on the flora, but chose to leave it lie for now. Plant kami never had shown interest in her which was the way she preferred it.

She went to gather her things. "There will be time for thank yous and clearing up the blur. For now, know that I expressed gratitude to all concerned on our behalf."
