Sierra giggled at Booker's smalltalk in spite of her agitation at getting in out of the strangely textured rain, her files tucked into her pocket alongside the two finger-knives Silence had given her, and Hover clasped protectively in her arms on standby mode.

"It's certainly been interesting. The rain is at least a change," she admitted, trying to look on the bright side. "I bet the Gimavines will be happy for it. Personally I can't wait to get inside and get Hover set to re-charge," she handled the little robot like a human infant. "I hope to have a chance to do some work on him, make him better able to communicate, while you're at that conference. You are going right?"

The door swung open, Odessa leaning heavily against the frame with her elbows on either side, squinting against the red light.

She was puffing on one of her wrinkled cigarettes, her hair pulled back into a short ponytail, still wearing the boy shorts and bra she'd scrounged up in a hurry when she'd found the newcomer.

She grinned at her two "tribe" mates and glanced over her shoulder before speaking.

"Welcome home, loves. You're not going to believe this, but I ended up naked in bed with a pregnant woman today. So between a giant robot and that, I'd say it's two firsts. Then again, I don't think she quite enjoyed the situation, seeing as she was restrained. Booker, Sierra, meet Celestina. Or Tina, whatever works. I guess she's our newbie."

Odessa moved out of the way and bowed, "presenting" the newcomer to her friends. She then straightened up and motioned toward the cooking pot.

"Chow's on, too. Why don't you two go get cleaned up an' come have a bite."

Tina felt excited when she heard the knock on the door. These people were going to be important in her life now, if things were as Odessa described. She scrambled back to her feet and tugged her T-shirt down ( ... )
