Character(s): Sam and anyone that finds him Content: Arrival, confusion, etc Setting: The hospital Warnings: None, really. Possible blood. He is a vampire after all.
The inhabitants of the hospital, both resident and guest, had settled in for rest but the sound of stirring made it clear that not all still slept. Hotaru had woken, but her presence in the empty halls of the hospital was soundless. She had been waiting for Hotori to wake, but the sudden appearance of a new source of chakra attracted her interest. If this person arrived suddenly in the same manner she had, perhaps there was something to be learned of the mechanism of transfer.
The stranger was easy to locate. A blond man with some sort of case was panicking slightly and heading towards the sounds of the others. Some small sense of responsibility and protective instinct made her wish to know if this intruder was safe or if she should just kill the man now before he hurt someone. Murder didn't much bother her when it had a reason.
Stepping into his path silently, Hotaru spoke in a soft voice, noting with interest that the man seemed somehow... more than human. "Where are you going?"
The sudden sound near him made him jump, and the claws of the hand not holding the case extended out from his fingers for a couple inches. The tissue in the back of his hand also shifted to give his hand a much more defined look. Otherwise, he didn't move to attack. A more calm and experienced vampire than himself probably would have heard her before she spoke.
When he saw the source, he shortened them somewhat. He didn't want to take any chances, really. She smelled human, so unless she had some specialized weapons concealed on her person, she couldn't pose that much of a threat, right? "I'm not sure, actually. I probably need to know where I am first," he smiled a bit at his attempt at a joke.
"Ah yes. That does help, doesn't it?" The appearance of claws and corresponding redistribution of energy made Hotaru raise an eyebrow but she didn't comment. Paranoia was a welcome response, familiar and to be met with equal caution. This man obviously knew how to defend himself if he was so willing to bare his weapons, so to speak.
"It's a pity that no one here seems to know where this truly is. The city is named Solluna and is largely abandoned and ruined. What people there are have simply... appeared from different worlds." She circled him slowly, studying him with interest and gauging his reactions. He was likely fast, but she was faster. It would be hard for him to catch her in a fight when she was healed and rested like this. "You mean no harm, do you? I am loathe to let you near those who are too weak to defend themselves until you prove yourself."
Hotaru grinned ferally. She threatened people needlessly often and didn't care what they thought of that. "I have no problem with killing people who cause trouble."
The last thing he wanted was to start a fight. He immediately retracted his claws, and reached toward his inside jacket pocket. "I'm not looking to hurt anyone. I'm a doctor. I can prove it, too." He pulled out his hospital ID, which doubled as a key card for some of the more restricted areas. It bore his picture, name, employee number, date of birth (he hoped she wouldn't look too closely at that, as it showed a year 27 years previous), address, and other hospital-specific information such as his department code, which was ER in large, bold letters.
"I can show you my instruments if that helps too," he offered.
The boy had perhaps not noticed that another black-cloaked figure lingered nearby. No doubt Hotaru had already sensed her husband, as he'd allowed some of his chakra to leak, as a sort of homing beacon for her, seeing as most of the others around here either didn't bother reading that sort of thing, ignored it completely, or didn't know how to in the first place.
He'd tensed when he saw the claws, but he knew Hotaru could take care of herself well enough. She was too fast for anyone around here, that much he knew. Whatever the boy was hiding, though, intrigued the Akatsuki. So Hotori made himself known, kicking a piece of rubble near his foot and sending it clattering across the way before coming closer, standing a measured distance away from Hotaru in case the boy wasn't all he appeared or said he was.
