There was no particular sound as Robin exited the Network with Ani; no popping or whooshing or cracking, they were simply there. Robin released his tight hold on Ani, stepping back to crow triumphantly. "The Robin has arrived! Master Ani is presented to Master Stardust!"
He had exited a few feet from the man he assumed to be Apollo Stardust and could now smell the pungent odor of cooking meat and plants. The one cooking it was in no way hard on the eyes and Robin greeted him by wrapping himself languidly around the new acquaintance's shoulders and gave him a peck on the cheek. "Greetings, fair fellow! Happy be that we are met!"
Ani just blinked. Whatever had happened, had happened instantly, and now they were quite outside. And in spite of the fact that he felt rather like he'd just had a nice nap, he was more than a little unsettled by this sudden descent into reality defying magicland.
And there was Ecclesiastes Morgaine, looking every bit like the one he knew save for one detail. That of gender. And he could only imagine, from what Zee had said, that the same was true in reverse. Though he had a hard time picturing himself as a woman . . .
Banishing the thought, he just sent Zee the same wave and sideways smile he would have in any other situation, time, place, or gender. "Hey."
Now this felt like home, fairytale style and Zee laughed. The sudden arrival had startled him, as had the embrace by the green stranger, but it was not a bad thing. The greetings and emotions were in good cheer and heartfelt, for all of Ani's hidden discomfort.
And Annie it was. There was no mistaking that person, female or not. It was nice to see that Ani had fared well in this place, well enough to reach here anyway.
"Hullo! It's nice to see you, Ani. I feel I should add again, but it's also not quite right, is it?" Zee turned his attention to his more intimate companion of the moment and returned the affection with a kiss on the cheek.
"I thank you, Master Robin, for ferrying Ani here. Please make yourself at home." The contact was odd but Zee didn't feel like being so rude as to break free of the embrace and left it at that.
A sound like a heavy, leaden weight being dropped to a stone surface echoed across the fountain plaza, strange cracks becoming slowly visible in the air about six feet above the ground.
The cracks radiated outward from a central form, something akin to a bubble or dome of bent space, which soon split open like a sleeper's waking eye. Darkness within roiled and swirled, and then..
Out came Miggx, in mid-roll. He grasped the edge of the portal on the way out, landing in a crouch and smartly snapping the "nothing" back into the shape of his hat, slipping it back onto his head as he straightened and examined his surroundings.
Finding the others present, as well as another new face, he clicked his heels sharply and bowed his head.
"It seems I made it with no difficulties. A minor scuffle with some loathsome rodent or other at my second stop, but Hat Transit seems to be working just fine in this realm. Greetings, sir. I am Millinery Officer First Class Herrigan M. Miggx. You may call me whatever you wish."
Ghost felt, more than heard, the first group of newcomers arrive. He had just lain Niji down to rest, covering her carefully with a blanket and tending to her comfort, when they made their arrivals known to Zee
