Well, I finally read The DaVinci Code. Took me long enough, considering early Christianity is my field and all. :-P But for a long time, I really had no interest in it. Anyway, it was entertaining as a story. Now, Dan Brown is certainly not the first to claim that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married, but the lack of scholarship in this book ( Read more... )

So has everyone heard about the Gospel of Judas that was just translated? It's pretty cool, but I find it hilarious how ALL of my relatives and the like have been calling me in the past week and trying to amaze me with it. Yes, it's Coptic. So are a lot of the apocryphal gospels. Ooooh, it paints a different picture of the Biblical figures. ( Read more... )
