Revision has made my brain loopy.

1) OK, seriously, this was posted earlier today but I have just not shut up about it since. I mean, I knew eagles were badass, but I didn't know they were *this* badass. I've been talking about it all day, even more than I did about the post with the animals in utero or the one where a heron drowned a bunny and ate it.
Warning: Kinda graphic. ( Read more... )

random, animals, what the...?, movies

It's a great community, although it's been a little wanky lately since it was featured in the spotlight last week. (I just lurk and enjoy the oddities.)

Hi! I'm Jim, and I just wanted to say hello and that I friended you because rurouni_jedi suggest I come over and introduce myself since I'm a published writer (just shorts, articles, essays and some old newspaper stringer stuff) and she's asked me a few time to friend you and say "hi".

So...uh...hi!

And I'm glad I'm not the only one with an aversion to people who have aversions to quotation marks and punctuation. I've seen various styles used to good effect, and some of the books I love don't use the standard system (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN was a fine, fine book too, and the movie had most all the big plot beats and was ace!) but on the whole I like the traditional formating.

Ahh, I hope she didn't harass you too much. She can be a bit... enthusiastic at times, and is excited because I just finished a first draft for the first time in a few years. She shot me a PM and I'll add you back. I have another journal that I haven't done much with but want to use more for writer/publisher networking, so I may add you on that one eventually too.

I'm all for people experimenting with formatting, punctuation, etc., and I know Cormac McCarthy has the knowledge and skill to pull it off and that the book is probably fantastic, but I prefer traditional use of quotation marks at least. (Plus, it really did come down to buying that or SPIN, and ever since, I've been pimping the latter out because it was fantastic.)
