Apparently this is Geelong's coldest Winter in 10 years (by about 1 degree, lol), and also its wettest. Apparently our reservoirs are up to 50% full now!!!! There are even talks of easing the water restrictions. I don't think they'll ease them by much if they do. Apparently now Melburnians are allowed to wash their cars and water gardens using ( Read more... )

Speaking of the weather, I didn't realize how miserable the winter in Geelong was this year until I had a chat with Steve Jacobs yesterday. He's been up here doing live remotes from Southern California - where we've just had a bit of a heat snap - and I happened to be around when they filmed the segments for Today Australia at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. (Haven't seen the blog from the shows yet.)

It seemed odd to be talking about the weather with the weatherman though. What's small talk for everyone else...

Do you ever get back this way? You should see the Geelong Ring Road now (the final part connecting up to Anglesea Rd is still being done). Pity it's not on Google Earth yet. It's the best thing ever!

Apparently Geelong Winters are mild compared to what you get over in USA ;)

I've seen how supremely cold your winters have become. You walk about without coats whilst the palm trees sway in the background! You have birthday parties outdoors! Wacky winters you have.

I'm so jealous!

We never got one of those water slides for your backyard cos we couldn't afford one. Had plenty of water, tho! Settled for squirting each other with the garden hose before we ended up having to move to a place where we had no more backyard anyway (apartment complex with shared "grounds"). XD

"Back in my day..." those slides that you buy didn't exist anyway. It was a long roll of plastic and the hose for us! :)
