It's time the Night Terrors got their own tag.

Mar 17, 2009 09:16

Last night was a serious exercise in blocking.  Between the hours of 7:00pm and 9:00pm, over 220 (!!) valiant straight pins and I stretched and spiked that stupid shawl.  My forefingers are bruised and my wrists hurt, and it's not ENTIRELY symmetrical, but I was quite pleased.

"Nick," I said, very sternly, "You are forbidden from having a night ( Read more... )

spazz, night terrors, knitting

Oh no! We'll look at the gappy bit tonight and see what we can do (judicious tugging often helps). If you're going to do a lot of blocking, there's always the option of getting a board that you can lie down on the floor for the pinning, and then prop up to avoid the malicious night terrorists!

I think an enormous folding cardboard thing would be helpful. Especially when it comes time to block heavy sweaters, which will need more drying than a light shawl.

I don't think the gap is a sign of anything unravelling...it looks like I dropped a YO, or something similar. It's set up near the top of the left shoulder (so, VERY early on in the project, unsurprisingly), but as long as the shoulder doesn't unravel, I can live with it.

That boy needs a better sleep schedule, or no more reading for a few hours before bedtime, or something. This is getting ridiculous!

I feel like I asked for it. Murphy's Law, and all that.

He's done this his whole life, though, and apparently his mom has the same issue from time to time. It'd be interesting to get a scan of his brain.

Seriously! Sleep study time.

UNC and Duke both have Sleep Disorder Centers. Duke does trials, occasionally, for various different disorders. I'm sure night terrors would be in there somewhere.

I should really see if he can fit that into his schedule. It would be interesting to know if something like that is hereditary.

That's that, cariad; I'mma get you something prop-uppable so you can block without fear of Spazz-feet! Let's just hope he doesn't have night-terrors in which he feels the need to punch things...

Like, maybe, MY FACE? Because we've BEEN THERE.

Okay, so he knocked me with the worlds most limp-noodle punch, but still.

Well, I had meant the shawl, but wow. I don't want his dreams, ever. Maybe he should writing them down; they might make awesome stories.

He doesn't ever remember them in the morning, which is the odd thing. Whereas, I remember that last night I dreamed I was playing Rock Band with the Beatles, which makes NO SENSE because I'm not a huge Beatles fan and I've only played Rock Band once. In the dream, someone tricked me into taking vocals, when I really wanted to play the drums.
