That boy needs a better sleep schedule, or no more reading for a few hours before bedtime, or something. This is getting ridiculous!

Seriously! Sleep study time.

UNC and Duke both have Sleep Disorder Centers. Duke does trials, occasionally, for various different disorders. I'm sure night terrors would be in there somewhere.

I should really see if he can fit that into his schedule. It would be interesting to know if something like that is hereditary.

Actually, this semester has been fairly constant for the sleep schedule! Go to bed at 3am, wake up between 11am and 12pm. I don't think it's connected to sleep schedules. My mom thinks it may be subconscious stress, but as Nicky said I've done it for a very long time through many stages of life, so unless I am ALWAYS subconsciously stressed...I dunno!

Stress definitely can be a factor. And it doesn't even have to be unreasonable stress or something happening right now. Your stress response is habituated, and the problem is when it is triggered for not-so-big things out of sheer biological habit.

I hear you've taken a liking to aikido. Do they go into much about developing a meditation practice? Might be something to look into!
