Packin' on the pounds....
As the choir director said, it's not the cold or lack of sunlight that makes us gain weight-it the amazing amount of food that we teachers receive during the holidays. Good lord...chocolate and cookies galore-not to mention two popcorn tins. I never get popcorn tins...that will make for good snacking on my 5 hour drive home tonight ( Read more... ) -
Feelin' good....
I am having a pretty good day, although I am really behind in present shopping-well sorta. I still have to make my mom's necklace-and get more beads, and do a couple more things. All before tomorrow-I leave to go home. Thursday-Saturday my dad and I are in Chicago for a 'music/band geek' convention. Home through the 27th then back in MN. ( Read more... ) -

I am so glad that yesterday is done and over with. I felt the demo went pretty well-except for breaking. I'm still confused how I can land a low-spin, but not a side kick on the first try. Whatever...I was more concerned about everything else ( Read more... ) -

Just got back from the dojang, and am not sure what exactly I had accomplished. I had thought I was going to go through demo stuff with Russ and my 'attackers'. Hard work does pay off...
I am wondering if my young musicians are starting to figure that out. The concert was awesome (as usual-they have a perfectionist for a band teacher!). Only got one bad comment, so far, about how there wasn't enough Christmas music. Umm...HELLO?! It's a winter concert-not even a holiday concert. I am not sure why I am so pooped. I really don't like concert days-they are so incredibly long and taxing. 3 bands and jazz band =13 pieces that I have to conduct+crowd control and trying to be cordial to everyone, eventhough the only thing I want to do is going home and have a drink ( Read more... ) -
Am I missing something??
When did extra-curricular events become more important than school??!! Where are the parents in this decision making? I have two students, both in 8th grade band who, for some reason or another-compete on HS varsity wrestling. Yesterday one of them told me that he would let me know today he would be able to make the concert....my goodness... ( Read more... )
