Am I missing something??
When did extra-curricular events become more important than school??!! Where are the parents in this decision making? I have two students, both in 8th grade band who, for some reason or another-compete on HS varsity wrestling. Yesterday one of them told me that he would let me know today he would be able to make the concert....my goodness...thank you for the head's up?! Then, a PARENT told me that his son may not be able to make it-but he is playing in church. And oh...how much will that affect his grade??? WTF??? I understand that sport are important-I was in sports, but folks...this is SCHOOL....if anything 50% of your grade is based on this...Also...what is with 7th/8th graders competing with high schoolers-they have 4 years to compete at high school level. I'm not sending my top musicians to be in the high school band....sigh...
