Taking a Chance

“Are you sure you don't want me to help?” Yunho asked in a sulking manner as he watched Jaejoong take out everything inside his luggage that he previously dumped inside. He sat on the foot of the bed, legs dangling on each side of Jaejoong who sat cross-legged on the floor.

Jaejoong looked up, back resting against the bed frame. “Seriously, do you normally pack your clothes like this? It's as if a bomb exploded in here.” Jaejoong grumbled, dropping his head back between Yunho’s thighs making the other appear upside down in his vision.

Yunho pouted, both hands grabbing the sides of Jaejoong's face. He lowered his head to meet Jaejoong's lips and bit on it. "Stop mocking me. Clearly, I excel more in other aspects," he countered suggestively.

"That sweet talk of yours won't get you anywhere." Jaejoong laughed.

"I refuse to believe that," Yunho grinned. His long fingers trailed down Jaejoong's chest but his hand was slapped away before it could reach somewhere more intimate.

"Tch. Behave yourself." Jaejoong huffed, straightening back up as he eyed the mess around them. His nose twitched at the clothes that were rolled and crumpled haphazardly-a green shaver peeking from scrunched up boxer briefs, and a cum-stained shirt was plunked next to it. "Goodness. Did you mix clean clothes with dirty laundry?"

"Um..."

Jaejoong rolled his eyes fully expecting the answer. Earlier, he was surprised when Yunho finished packing his stuff in a speed of light. He promised him cuddling time after they were finished but when he checked and opened the luggage himself, inside it was a warzone and clothes just started blowing up everywhere.

He heard Yunho mumble something incoherent behind him, obviously sounding guilty for getting caught. “It's okay baby. I'll take care of it.” Jaejoong chuckled, patting Yunho's thigh.

Yunho made himself useful by entertaining Jaejoong with amusing stories about work. While doing so, his fingers were absentmindedly stroking through tousled dark hair, and occasionally rubbed the sore spots around Jaejoong’s shoulders. They poked fun at Yoochun who they agreed was kind of gay for their good friend Junsu, but soon, to Yunho’s embarrassment, their conversation was steered into making fun of  his underwear and the funny designs on it.

"Okay, done." Jaejoong smiled.

"Finally!" Yunho exhaled. "C’mere." He pulled Jaejoong up the bed by the armpits and sat him sideways on his lap.

The change in Jaejoong’s demeanor was apparent. His body was tensed and unconsciously fiddled with his fingers as his body leaned closer, supported by Yunho’s chest.

“Jaejoongie…” Yunho nudged Jaejoong’s cheek with his nose sensing the other’s anxiety.

“I’m nervous.” Jaejoong sighed, wrapping his arms around Yunho’s neck. “What if…” he trailed, words muffled against Yunho’s cottony shirt.

“Don’t worry about it too much.” Yunho assured, kissing the side of Jaejoong’s face. “We’ll be okay.”

Jaejoong nodded solemnly. “Come on, we should head to the airport soon.”

“Not yet.” Yunho grinned wolfishly and before Jaejoong could protest, he was already pinned against the bed with Yunho hovering above him. “We still have an hour. That’s enough time to cheer you up, yes?”

It was a battle he knew he’d never win so he could only moan in surrender and let Yunho’s passion consume him.

***

Yunho kept Jaejoong closely cuddled to him during the flight with the armrest between them flipped up so he could freely lean on Yunho's shoulders. “You know, I’ve been meaning to ask,” Yunho said with eyes looking pointedly at Jaejoong. “What’s your relationship with Shim Changmin?”

Jaejoong looked up with raised eyebrows. “Changmin?” When he noticed the impatient glare Yunho was giving him, he continued with a chuckle. “He's like a brother to me, Yunho-yah. That night at the club didn’t mean anything. I was just trying to make you jealous. Besides…” Jaejoong paused to give Yunho a kiss on the lips. “He’s straight.”

“You’re awful. I really thought you two were…”

“Oh wow, what’s this about?” Jaejoong grinned. “You said you weren’t jealous. You even gave me that long ass speech of just protecting what you and I have accomplished,” he scoffed the last bit.

“You were grinding against him,” Yunho stressed. “Of course I was jealous… and hey, that stupid speech rescued me from further humiliation. It was embarrassing enough without you teasing me about it.”

Jaejoong’s eyes were sparkling with curiosity. “Huh, I knew you’ve always had a secret crush on me. Well not that I doubted… with my good looks and all,” he gave a sly grin.

Yunho rolled his eyes. “What good looks?” he teased.

Jaejoong gasped, eyes widening instantly. “Are you calling me ugly?”

Yunho laughed, earning a couple of stares from passengers nearby.

“Ssh!” Jaejoong slapped his arm. “People are sleeping.”

“Well then it’s time we sleep as well,” Yunho grinned at how Jaejoong was still pouting. Only when he kissed it away and whispered-“Sleep tight, beautiful”-did a satisfied smile appear on Jaejoong’s lips.

They were an idyllic pair: Jaejoong was spoiled and Yunho took pleasure in catering to his every whim.

A couple hours passed when Yunho woke up to butterfly kisses on his neck. “Jaejoongie?” he garbled, looking around the dimly lit cabin. Everyone seemed to be asleep by now. “What time is it?”

“2:30 am.” Jaejoong groaned, shifting in his seat, tugging the flimsy airplane blanket toward his chest. It was large enough for the both of them.

Yunho caressed Jaejoong’s arm. "Why aren’t you asleep?"

“Stupid plane woke me up," he mumbled. “It won’t freaking stay still.” He was already fast asleep when the aircraft shifted sharply and jerked him awake.

Yunho chuckled. “Now, now. Do you want me to sing for you?”

Jaejoong sniggered. “Really?”

“Uh, I was just kidding. I can't sing,” Yunho grimaced. “But! I know exactly what will help you fall a sleep.”

“What?” Jaejoong whispered tiredly.

“Let my fingers do the work.” Yunho leered. “Just keep your voice down, okay?”

Jaejoong looked at him confused. “You mean a massage? Yeah that would be nice…” his eyes widened, brain now fully functioning seeing that mischievous look on Yunho’s eyes. Jaejoong hissed, “are you crazy?”

“I said keep it down,” Yunho whispered, capturing Jaejoong’s lips. He distracted him with his mouth and waited until he felt Jaejoong relax in his arms. Slowly, he let his free hand snake under the blanket and unzipped Jaejoong pants.

“I thought you don’t wanna? You're hard.” Yunho grinned.

“B-because!” Jaejoong whined in a hushed tone. “You’re an idiot for giving me ideas. Just hurry and get on with it.”

Yunho could only do so much not to burst out laughing so he kissed Jaejoong again and started moving his hand. Jaejoong broke away from the kiss and buried his face against Yunho’s chest, a silent moan slipping from his lips.

“Baby, you have to keep quiet.”

Jaejoong nodded placing a hand over his mouth. Yunho hugged Jaejoong closer and pumped faster. He was determined to finish before anyone woke up to a scandalous sight. When he felt Jaejoong started to tremble, his teeth tugged on his lover’s earlobe and then whispered in a breathy voice, “coming?”

Jaejoong nodded. “F-fast-” he moaned which ended with a sharp gasp of breath as Yunho’s fingers did magical things to the tip of his length.

“You have no idea how I badly want to take you right now… to fuck you so hard and have you scream my name.”

With the sound of Yunho’s voice whispering huskily into his ear, Jaejoong was brought to his peak as the final stroke drew him over the edge. He silently moaned into Yunho’s neck, biting on the flesh to stifle his voice. And before he could stain the blanket, Yunho immediately reached for the vomit bag and cleverly covered his cock with it.

“That was so stupid. Someone could have…” Jaejoong panted, resting his head on Yunho's shoulder as he felt fingers zip his pants back up. “I hate you,” he mumbled, tired, sleepy eyes fluttering close as he felt a pair of arms pull him close.

“You love me,” Yunho answered, kissing Jaejoong’s forehead. His fingers soothingly drew circles on Jaejoong’s back, effectively putting him to sleep.

“mmlovrryeeu," Jaejoong slurred, sleep finally coming to him.

Jaejoong could’ve sworn he heard Yunho whisper something back before he was knocked unconscious. Whatever it was, it sounded pleasant enough to give him wonderful images to dream about.

***

Pulling two trolley suitcases behind him, Yunho came out of the elevator first followed by Jaejoong who was holding his new Louis Vuitton bag that Yunho bought for him at the airport. As a thank you, Jaejoong promised to cook for him tonight. Yunho suggested to take the luggage to his apartment first then go back to Jaejoong’s place for dinner.

Jaejoong held the door open for Yunho and asked, “What do you want to eat?” Closing the door behind him, Jaejoong helped with the bags and place them on the corner.

“You decide,” he said as Jaejoong went pass him and disappeared into the kitchen to check for some ingredients he could borrow. “I’m just so hungry I could eat anything right now.” Yunho groaned, taking off his shoes. He froze noticing the pair of heels on the side. Fuck. Yunho hurriedly went in, suddenly feeling cold and nervous.

Yunho’s eyes widened when he found Soojin in the kitchen with Jaejoong who was standing awkwardly next to her.

“S-Soojin…”

“Oh there you are! I was just asking Jaejoong about you.” She smiled, walking towards Yunho and kissed him warmly on the lips. “Welcome home, Yunho-yah. I missed you.”

Jaejoong looked away, biting his lip in the sudden turn of events. He didn’t expect to be faced with this situation so soon.

“Soojin-ah…” Yunho was caught off guard, his mouth refusing to cooperate with him. “Are you sure no one followed you here?”

“Is that how you greet your girlfriend?” Soojin chuckled. “I made sure I wasn’t tailed. And if you’re wondering how I know, I pestered Yoochun about your flight schedule.” She kept her arms circled around Yunho’s waist, resting her head on Yunho's neck.

“Why, aren’t you happy to see me?”

Her kiss… her touch was so familiar, but different. It just wasn’t…

Yunho looked pleadingly at Jaejoong and he saw the conflicting of emotions in his eyes. There was doubt, hurt… and fear. Yunho couldn’t stand it and wanted nothing but to erase them all. He knew the talk would eventually have to happen tonight, but he needed a moment… to find the right time to tell her. When he saw Jaejoong nod in understanding, he closed his eyes for a second and willed his mind to digest the change he was about to do in his life.

“I was just surprised to see you... that’s all.” Yunho pulled away carefully from the embrace.

Jaejoong cleared his throat. “Um, I should go ahead.”

Soojin turned to him with an unreadable expression. “No, you should join us for dinner. I brought takeout food. I'm sure you guys are hungry after a very long flight.”

Yunho’s body stiffened.

Seeing the dumbstruck look on both men’s faces, Soojin continued to talk. “I know you guys traveled together. Why did you think you had to hide it from me? It's a good cover up and will sell our story better,” she shrugged.

Yunho nodded dumbly.

“Okay. You should go change while we prepare dinner,” Soojin said, kissing Yunho on the cheek. “And um, Jaejoong, can you help me out with the food?”

Yunho looked as baffled as Jaejoong. Soojin was being way too pleasant, and it was unnerving the both of them.

“I... Okay.” Jaejoong’s head was reeling with scenarios. The sudden shift in atmosphere made him dizzy and feared for what would happen. As Yunho went to his room to change, Jaejoong was left alone with Soojin looking tense and out of place. He knew something was up, and prepared himself for it.

Then it came…

“So, tell me,” Soojin was leaning against the table, her eyes fixed on Jaejoong’s back. “Does it make you feel better?"

Jaejoong froze in his step, whirling around to face Soojin. “What?”

“…ruining a relationship. Does it make you feel better?” Her voice sounded so innocent one wouldn’t have guessed she was asking something so cutting.

“What are you-?”

“Don't play innocent with me. I know what you've been doing.” She let out a small laugh, shaking her head looking amused. “Aren’t you pitiful?”

Jaejoong felt like he was drowning in a sea of ice-cold water. She knew. His fingers clenched the sides of his pants, inhaling a harsh breath, as he stayed rooted on the ground while she continued to cut him deeper with her words. It wasn’t in his place to tell her anything. Yunho needed time, and he had to hold on a little longer until it was the right time for it.

“You threw yourself at him… degraded yourself just to make him notice you,” she chuckled in the incredulity of it all. “I know he’d been rejecting your advances because I clearly remember Yunho telling me how annoying you were… but it seems you finally got to him, huh? You must be proud that your pathetic attempts finally worked.”

She then casually moved around the kitchen as if they were having a normal conversation. “But you see, that’s how we’re different. I didn’t have to do any of that to make him fall for me. I didn’t have to hurt anyone to make him love me.” Her voice broke at some point but she composed herself and remained calm. “Yunho did the chasing, not me. While you on the other hand…”

She looked at Jaejoong with hurt-filled eyes. “If you didn't try so hard to seduce him, I doubt he'd even spare you a glance. So tell me, Jaejoong, do you possibly think it’ll last?”

Jaejoong didn’t answer. He had to suppress his tears from falling. It was true… everything thrown at him was like a dagger through his heart. Yunho wouldn’t have noticed. Bit by bit, he was losing his confidence. How was he going to defend himself? He loved Yunho so much, but he wasn’t sure what Yunho felt for him.

And seeing how hurt Soojin was, the sense of guilt was clawing at his soul… wanting him to hide in shame until it all went away. More than that, just like him, she was hurting. But he didn’t show any emotion. And with a steady voice, he simply said, “I’m sorry.”

“No, you’re not,” she snapped, quickly wiping away a stray tear. “Don’t even pretend you are.” She pulled herself together and stepped closer to where Jaejoong stood.

“I won’t make it easy for you. I’m not giving him up without a fight,” she told him.

It must be the thought of Yunho being taken away that something inside Jaejoong cracked and felt the need to protect someone very important to him.

“Neither am I.”

The clear look of surprise on Soojin’s face was immediately replaced by fake calmness as soon as they heard the approaching footsteps towards the kitchen. Yunho appeared in new set of clothes, looking newly showered. “Just in time, honey. Dinner’s ready.”

Jaejoong had to bite the inside of his cheek to refrain himself from claiming Yunho was his. “Something came up. Sadly, I can’t join you guys tonight. It’s a last minute thing, but please enjoy yourselves.”

Yunho looked at him worriedly. “Jaejoong-ah? You’re not staying?”

Soojin’s heart clenched hearing the tenderness in Yunho’s voice. “It must be important, sweetie. Besides, It’s been a while since we had our alone time. How about I sleep over tonight?”

Jaejoong didn’t want to hear anymore of it and briskly walked out of there without looking at them. Yunho was about to stop Jaejoong from walking away but Soojin grabbed his arm and held him in place.

“Yunho-yah, let him go.” With the way her eyes shone with tears, Yunho understood what she meant. He didn’t know how, but she knew what was going on.

“I-I can’t do that,” Yunho choked out.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Soojin whispered, releasing the tightness of her hold.

“Soojin-ah, we need to talk. I need to tell you something.”

“There’s nothing to talk about, Yunho. You don’t feel anything for him, right? Then you don’t have to explain to me whatever you did. Let’s just forget about it... like it never happened.” She was adamant to work things out between them.

“We can’t just pretend we’re okay.” Yunho’s heart hammered in his chest. He never thought a day would come where hurting her was inevitable. “Soojin-ah, I… I feel something for him, and…”

“What are you talking about?” She asked calmly, but inside she was panicking and was in the verge of breaking down. “You’re not even gay.”

“It has nothing to do with that,” he whispered.

It was the way Yunho’s eyes were swimming with sincere emotions that she realized it was more than just a fling. Soojin felt like the world crashed on her. He truly did feel something deeper for the other man and it was breaking her apart.

“N-No, you’re just confused. This whole pretend thing is just getting into your head and…” Soojin wiped her tears away, moving closer to initiate physical contact. She grabbed Yunho’s face for a kiss, but to add to her misery, he didn’t kiss back. Instead, he hugged her tightly and said I’m sorry over and over again.

“You can’t possibly be in love with him just after a few days together.” Shaking her head in disbelief, she made a step back. “Unless… you…  how long have you felt this way?”

“I... It was just there… and started growing until I couldn’t control it anymore.” Yunho answered truthfully. “I tried so hard to run away, to forget… but I can’t avoid it forever, Soojin-ah. We can’t keep fooling ourselves when there’s someone else I...” He whispered brokenly. “That would be unfair to you. I’m really sorry-”

“Unfair?” The slap came too fast and predicted but Yunho took it wholeheartedly. He knew he deserved it. The sting on his left cheek was prickling but it didn’t match the scorching pain in his chest.

“You should have thought that before you cheated on me.” Soojin stated in a strangled voice. With one last look at the love of her life, she walked away and never looked back.

When he was calm enough to face Jaejoong, Yunho quickly went to his flat, entering the door combination as memorized. Although what happened sent such a huge blow to his heart for hurting someone he cared for, it also felt like a huge weight was lifted off his shoulders and he just couldn’t wait to hold Jaejoong in his arms and tell him how he truly felt.

He found Jaejoong on the couch, knees curled to his chest. Yunho instantly went to his side and pulled him close.

Jaejoong hesitated. “Why are you here? Isn’t she going to-”

“You don’t want me here?” Yunho whispered, inhaling Jaejoong’s scent that he adored so much.

“S-She was kissing you… and… I couldn’t do anything,” Jaejoong sniffed. He was scared. Now that Yunho saw her again, did he change his mind about being with him? Biting his lip in worry, he asked in a soft voice. “Are you going to leave me, Yunho-yah?”

“No, baby. I won’t.”

“No matter what happens, promise me you won’t leave.” Jaejoong whispered desperately as he pressed against Yunho’s chest.

“I promise,” Yunho whispered.

“D-Did you tell her?”

“Yes,” Yunho sighed. “I still don’t know how she figured it out but I hope she’ll be able to forgive me for what I did.”

Jaejoong kissed Yunho’s neck, closing his eyes as he took pleasure in being wrapped in Yunho’s arms.

“Jaejoong-ah, do you love me?”

“That’s a stupid question.”

“You don’t?” he smiled.

“I do. I love you so much,” Jaejoong choked.

Yunho grabbed Jaejoong’s hand and placed it over his chest. “Do you feel that?” His heart was thumping wildly through his ribcage. “It goes crazy just being next to you. And when I kiss you like this...”

Gently, he tipped Jaejoong’s head back and kissed him on the lips. “It gets so much harder to breathe… like it’s going to burst. Do you understand where I’m getting at, Jaejoongie?”

Much to his dismay and amusement, Jaejoong only blinked his wide eyes at him. Yunho sighed. “Tsk. You’re making me look like a fool,” then whispered lovingly, “what I’m saying is that I love you too.”

Jaejoong's eyes flickered with hope and almost instantly brightened… giving him the most beautiful smile he’d ever seen. Yunho’s heart leapt and swelled with uncontainable joy. He hugged Jaejoong tightly, never wanting to let go.

He took a chance, and it was worth it.
