Resisting Gravity

They were heading towards the immigration to get their passports checked, when Jaejoong worriedly informed Yunho that he couldn’t find his passport. “It’s not here,” Jaejoong searched his bag frantically. “I’m sure I slipped it in here with my phone.”

“Did you even check around your seat before we left the plane?”

Jaejoong bit his lip guilty and shook his head.

Yunho tried not to focus on the way Jaejoong worried his lower lip. Why did he keep on doing that? It was distracting, and Yunho didn’t like it.

Yunho sighed. “Stay here. I’ll go talk to-”

“Jaejoong-sshi!”

Both of them turned to the man heading their way. Yunho’s lips tightened as he watched Jaejoong’s eyes brightened in recognition.

“I was looking for you,” he panted. “Here, you dropped this.” He said, as he handed Jaejoong’s missing passport.

“Oh my god! You found it,” Jaejoong sighed in relief. “Thank you!”

“No thanks necessary,” Shirota laughed. “It’s a good thing I guess since I didn’t even get to say goodbye to you back there.”

“Oh, about that,” Jaejoong said, feeling terrible. “I’m sorry for just leaving like that,” he apologized. “If there is anything you need at all,” Jaejoong took out his wallet and gave Shirota his business card. “Here, just give me a call. I would try to help out.”

“I’ll count on that.” Shirota smiled.

Yunho faked a coughed from behind, which made Jaejoong jump a little. His eyes widened, “Oh, I almost forgot. This is… uh,” Jaejoong paused in dilemma, he wasn’t sure if it would annoy Yunho even more if he introduced him as his ‘boyfriend’. He settled on playing safe.

“This is Jung Yunho.”

Yunho stole a glance at Jaejoong, totally misunderstanding his intention. He assumed that Jaejoong purposely didn’t want Shirota to misinterpret anything because he felt attraction towards the guy.

“Ah, yes. I’ve heard of you Yunho-shhi. It’s nice to meet you. I’m Shirota Yuu.” He smiled.

Yunho nodded curtly with a small smile. “It’s nice to meet you.”

Sensing the awkward atmosphere, Shirota took the hint and knew that it was his cue to leave. “Oh uh, well I won’t hold you any longer. It was nice meeting you again Jaejoong-sshi,” he said with a warm smile and finally left.

Yunho wordlessly walked ahead. Jaejoong was too busy rejoicing about his passport to even notice Yunho’s unpleasant mood, and just followed behind.

***

It was already 8:00 pm when they arrived. They were exhausted and were looking forward to get some needed sleep. While Jaejoong bloomed in happiness that they could finally relax, it wasn’t the same for Yunho.

He gaped in disbelief when they reached their hotel. One, he just found out Jaejoong didn’t book separate rooms. Two, there was only one bed. Three, the bathroom was freaking see-through. The walls were made of glass!

Without thinking twice, he immediately talked to the hotel staff if there was another room available, but the hotel was fully booked to his incredulity. Lady luck wasn’t on his side.

“Are you insane? I’m not sleeping in the same bed with you!” Yunho screeched sounding horrified. He stood firmly, refusing to move an inch. "And do you see the bathroom? Just what kind of hotel is this?"

“Why do you complain so much? Go shower on the beach or wherever if it bothers you,” Jaejoong rolled his eyes, as he set his luggage on the floor. “And if you don't want the bed, then sleep on the couch! No one’s stopping you.”

“You’re delirious if you think I’m giving up the bed,” Yunho shot back. “You’re taking the couch.”

Jaejoong raised an eyebrow, turning to Yunho who was still rooted to the ground. “What are you so worried about, anyway?” he grinned. “We’re both men.”

“You can’t sway me. You’re sleeping on the couch, Jaejoong.” Yunho repeated.

“Make me,” Jaejoong chuckled. He walked towards Yunho who immediately backed against the door. “It’s not like I’m going to do anything to you. Unless…” he whispered heatedly. “Unless you want me to.”

“G-Get away from me,” Yunho stuttered.

“Why, what did you think I was going to do?” Jaejoong grinned. “I was just gonna help you unpack.” Jaejoong laughed as he yanked away the luggage handle from Yunho’s tight grip.

“No thanks, I would prefer you don’t touch my things.”

“Quit whining,” Jaejoong countered with a wave of his hand. Completely ignoring Yunho’s warning, he started unpacking anyway.

“You know what,” Yunho looking stunned, and infuriated, turned away briskly walking to the door. “Do whatever… I don’t care anymore. I’m going out.”

“Yunho-yah, wait,” Jaejoong stood up abruptly. “Where are you going?”

“Away from you,” Yunho spat, slamming the door behind him.

Jaejoong was crestfallen. He slumped on the bed face first, sad thoughts plaguing him in full force. Yoochun warned him that this wasn’t a good idea, but despite knowing what could happen, he went through with it… prepared to be hurt.

***

Completely drained after the 13-hour flight, Yunho went for a good body massage after dinner. He was still feeling the serious case of jet lag so it wasn’t a surprise that he slept in and only woke up a few hours later. He smiled apologetically at the receptionist, but she assured him that it was not a problem since the spa center was open round the clock to cater to weary tourists.

It was already 2:00 am when he got back to their hotel room. He presumed Jaejoong would already be asleep at this hour so he asked for an extra keycard at the front desk to not disturb him. Totally unprepared to find Jaejoong awake, his brows scrunched in wonder.

Jaejoong was sitting on the floor by the foot of the bed, hugging his knees against his chest and was just staring blankly into space.

“Hey,” he called softly. The other made no move to greet him as he walked in, so he called his name, a little louder this time. “Jaejoong?”

Jaejoong’s head perked up towards Yunho in surprise, his face illuminated by the muted television. The lighting that was reflecting on him made his complexion appear blue, coincidentally reflecting what he was feeling at that moment.

Yunho walked towards Jaejoong, and crouched on the floor beside him. He helped Jaejoong up and asked, “Why are you still awake?”

“Oh uh,” Jaejoong staggered weakly to his feet, swaying a little. He refused to meet Yunho’s eyes. “I…” he trailed.

I was waiting for you.

“I’m sorry I dragged you here without telling you anything. It was entirely my idea so please don’t be mad at Yoochun,” Jaejoong said weakly. “And… I… I already reserved a return ticket for you to Korea. Your flight back is at 10:30 in the morning.”

Yunho nodded halfheartedly without saying anything.

“Well, you should go to sleep,” Jaejoong smiled sadly. “You have a flight to catch.” He grabbed a pillow from the bed and walked to the couch surprising Yunho even more.

Yunho felt a tug on his heart as he made his way to the bed. At 3AM, he still couldn’t sleep. He rolled to his side, and sneakily took a peep at the sleeping figure on the side. He bit his lip guiltily as the couch looked uncomfortable to sleep in. Jaejoong was hugging himself probably from the cold seeing as the blanket was on the floor.

Yunho sighed. He stood and made his way to the couch. He kneeled beside Jaejoong and lightly shook him awake.

"Jaejoong-ah,” he whispered. You didn’t have to wait up for me.

Jaejoong mumbled something inaudible, but quickly fell back to sleep. He was clearly exhausted from the flight and for staying up late. Yunho’s conscience was killing him.

Yunho leaned his face closer, and then whispered, “Jaejoong-ah, come on let's get you to bed."

Still refusing to budge, Yunho didn’t have a choice but to scoop him up in his arms. “The things you make me do…” he sighed.

He stilled when he felt Jaejoong’s arms wrap around his neck and groggily nuzzled his face against Yunho’s chest. He was mumbling incoherent words in his sleep. What a lovely sight it was that Yunho had to blink a couple times to get his head straight. His legs wavered a little. Only when he steadied his hold around Jaejoong that he staggered back to bed, gently dropping him on the mattress.

For a couple of seconds, he debated whether to take the couch or stay on the bed. But it was not long enough did he choose to get off his high horse and slid under the blanket and lied on his back with both arms tucked behind his head.

His eyes were already closing when he felt a dip in the bed. His body tensed when he felt warmth press against his side. Carefully turning his head to the side, he’d nearly forgotten to breathe as he was faced with Jaejoong curled up beside him. His eyes remained closed, but Yunho could tell he was starting to regain consciousness a little.

"Yunho-yah,” Jaejoong mumbled sleepily, snuggling closer to Yunho.

“W-wha…t?” Yunho’s voice faltered, his brain ceasing to function.

“Don’t go,” he whispered faintly.

Yunho waited for Jaejoong’s breathing to even out and when he felt Jaejoong relax, he untucked his arms behind his head and gently tried to push Jaejoong to his side of the bed. But instead of backing away, Jaejoong searched for his warmth and pulled him closer, his one arm resting around Yunho’s chest.

Yunho puffed a breath. Jaejoong was clingy even when asleep. Letting him be, Yunho clenched his eyes as he started sorting out his thoughts in conflict. There was a way out of this-an easy way out. He could easily take the flight back in the morning, and escape from this, but-

Don’t go…

Yunho sighed.

“…Okay,” he whispered back, his thumb lightly grazing Jaejoong’s cheek. He wished he wasn’t as clueless as to why he turned his back from that opportunity to break away.

***

Jaejoong had dreamed about this moment countless of times but it did not do justice to how wonderful it truly was waking up next to Yunho. Being so close to the person he love… the feeling was unexplainable. Although last night was a little hazy, he smiled remembering the feel of Yunho’s arms around him as he brought him to bed.

Jaejoong giggled anticipating how Yunho would throw a fit if he woke up with his face leaning this close to his. Jaejoong was on his stomach with a stupid grin on his face, while Yunho was on his side one arm wrapped around Jaejoong’s lower back. He lifted a finger and touched Yunho’s nose.

He chuckled.

Yunho’s eyes fluttered, brows scrunching up when he felt something poking his cheek. He hummed when he felt it trail softly along his jaw line. His eyes slowly opened, then widening instantly when his vision cleared.

“Uh,” Yunho scooted away but misjudged the distance and fell out of bed. Yunho groaned, pain shooting in his backside.

“Good morning,” Jaejoong chuckled. He peered down from the bed and watched Yunho roll on the floor. “Does it hurt?”

“No,” Yunho answered sarcastically. He looked up and saw Jaejoong on his stomach, grinning down at him with his hands propped under his chin. “What are you so happy about?” he hissed.

“Because you’re staying,” Jaejoong grinned.

“Only because I overslept,” Yunho stood up, avoiding Jaejoong’s eyes.

“And you’re not mad anymore,” Jaejoong said, sitting up in bed properly. His eyes followed Yunho as he searched for his phone to check his messages.

Yunho raised his eyebrows, looking up from his phone. “What made you say that?”

“Well, you brought me to bed when you could have just left me freezing on the couch,” he grinned. “If you were still mad, you wouldn’t have bothered.”

Yunho sighed in defeat. “I’ll go take a shower.”

“Alright, promise I won’t look,” Jaejoong said with sparkling eyes.

Yunho paused. And that reminded him, how was he going to shower properly in a freaking see-through bathroom? He was thrilled when an idea began to take form. He grabbed the extra thin blanket from the couch and smugly went inside the bathroom.

Jaejoong pouted in disappointment as he watched Yunho drape a blanket over the glass door from outside before getting inside the shower stall.

“Yunhooo ~ I said I won’t look!”

“Shut up.”

“But you’ll get it wet!” Jaejoong said, pointing at the drape.

“I don’t care!”

The room had a walk-in closet so getting dressed was an easy task for Yunho. But the real challenge however was avoiding Jaejoong at all cost while he strut around the room with just a towel around his waist.

He gritted his teeth, ordering Jaejoong to dress up quickly. But he regretted immediately because Jaejoong turned his back to Yunho and purposely let the towel fall to his feet on the floor as he dressed up carelessly in front of him.

Yunho gasped, turning around at once. He blinked, trying to erase the images of toned muscles and soft, round cheeks in his mind.

“What? You said to dress up quickly,” Jaejoong asked innocently.

“Y-you… I didn’t mean right in front of me!” he hissed. Yunho had enough and bolted out the door yelling back that he would just wait for Jaejoong outside.

***

After so much begging and pleading, Yunho eventually agreed to accompany Jaejoong to go sightseeing. They spent the entire day checking some of the tourist attractions in Bora-Bora and Yunho even let Jaejoong drag him to take a dip on the beach.

Yunho sat on the shoreline, rolling his eyes at Jaejoong who was running around trying to fly a kite. He chuckled when Jaejoong stumbled backwards, and accidentally let go of the string. Yunho shook his head as Jaejoong scrambled back up, running after the runaway spool.

“Yunho-yah! A little help-mmpht!” Jaejoong felt the wind knock out of him when he ran into something hard. “Ouch-I’m so sorry!” He stood up, immediately helping the other guy up. His mouth dropped when he recognized who it was.

“Jaejoong,” the guy chuckled.

“Shirota-sshi!” Jaejoong gasped in surprise.

“What are the odds, huh?” he smiled. “And please, call me Yuu.”

“Did I hurt you? I was running after…” Jaejoong froze in thought. “Oh no, my kite!” He bolted into a run, waving back at Shirota yelling, “I’m sorry again. I’ll see you around!”

“Most definitely,” he chuckled. This Jaejoong was an interesting guy.

Yunho watched from the sidelines as Jaejoong talked to someone familiar. Something was bubbling up inside him again, but he held it down. He had no right to feel anything. So why was he affected? Shaking his head lightly, he decided it was time he kept his mind in check. He had been acting difficult and made it hard for Jaejoong lately, and truthfully, it was puzzling him as hell.

Trying to divert his attention to something else, Yunho walked aimlessly, his toes digging into the sand with every step. He looked ahead, and saw Jaejoong pulling the kite behind him, walking back towards his direction with a grin on his face. Just like his feelings, every step he took forward to meet Jaejoong, he felt his heart sunk deeper and deeper.

“Yunho-yah!” Jaejoong grinned, pointing at the limp kite on his hand. “Fly it with me!”

“But it’s getting dark. Shouldn’t we head back now?” Yunho said. “I want to eat.”

“One last time, please?”

Yunho sighed. “Okay, let me-uh, you should get that.”

Jaejoong’s phone started ringing. Yunho took the kite from Jaejoong’s hand and let him answer the call. Hesitantly, Jaejoong took his phone out from his pocket, brows furrowing when he saw who the caller was.

“Shiro-Yuu, hello,” Jaejoong corrected himself. “Is there something wrong? …Oh, well I… can I um call you back? I just need to talk to Yunho for a sec… okay.”

“What did he want?” Yunho asked calmly, eyes fixed on Jaejoong.

“He wanted to invite me for dinner. But I don’t think-”

“You should go,” Yunho said. “He seems interested in you.”

“But I want to eat with you,” Jaejoong muttered, feeling sad that Yunho was pushing him into someone else.

“No, it’s fine. We have plenty of time to eat together.” Yunho encouraged. “You’re not nervous, are you? It’s just a date.” He smiled a little.

"It's not..." Jaejoong looked at Yunho with expressionless eyes. His shoulders slumped.

“…Okay.”

After confirming with Yuu that he was free to meet up for dinner, Jaejoong headed back to their hotel to get dressed while Yunho just stood there watching from behind. His eyes followed Jaejoong’s figure until he was out of sight.

He breathed, convincing himself that he did the right thing. It was just fair that Jaejoong go out with someone else too. He could date whomever he wanted as long as they keep it in the down low, then everything should be fine... right?

Yunho took out his phone and  dialed a number.

“Hello. It's Jung Yunho. That’s right, I made a dinner reservation for two. Yes, that’s why I called. Something came up and I have to cancel. I’m sorry. Okay... Thank you for understanding.”

Yunho sighed. Guess it was just him for tonight.
