Most of her anxiety melted when she saw how excited he was. It was adorable, really. It hit that maternal chord with her and instantly made her wonder if she was older than him. She'd always thought it was the other way around.

On their way in as they'd made their way to the seats, she thought about how many times she'd been on the stage and how many ribbons she'd gotten. She'd never ventured across anywhere for prizes or anything like that, but Voile had quite a collection that was never shared with anyone. Somehow though? It seemed unlikely that she'd be able to miss the pictures from the former contests.

Including ones she'd participated in.

She escorted him to the two seats he pointed out and sat down afterward. "Incredible, isn't it? You haven't seen one before?"

"I've seen one or two being broadcast on the TV while I was living at home in Littleroot." Brendan replied, his eyes on the stage as the judges sat down in their seats. "But this is my first time watching the contest real time! The atmosphere is completely different!"

If he were one or two years younger, he probably would be jumping around in his seat. Or running around the contest hall. He was that excited. But being an older brother and all, he had some self-control. He did clap very enthusiastically when the contestants entered the stage, though.

This was all more like a learning experience for her. All trainers were different. Her own had been a bit more calm and collected, but always kind, always considerate. Brendan was spirited and full of life, the kind of life that radiated from him. Voile always found his company and even just idle chatter with him to be exhilarating. It was very difficult to not enjoy his presence.

And he was sweet. Voile was very susceptible to sweet.

She watched him out of the corner of an eye and her mouth tugged into a smile. She sat as prim and properly as she could, hands folded in her lap, and leafy appendages steering clear of possible view obstruction. She did, however, move when she felt it imperative to clap for the contestants.

"You could always enter your Pokémon into one. I'm sure you have plenty who would be quite well on a stage." She commented thoughtfully. Then she nodded, as though to confirm her words, "They give wonderful prizes to the winners, and of course, the experience is its own reward."

Brendan's energetic smile died down a little when he heard that. He was into contests, yes, but he had been into traveling and taking data of Pokémon to do a proper raising with any of his team. Plus with a couple who wouldn't really follow his directions... And entering at a huge contest hall at that? Brendan wasn't sure if he could fare well.

"Honestly, I don't think I'd even get past the lowest level of the contests." He replied with a small laugh. "I've only entered one contest before, and a small one at that. Swellow managed to get a ribbon in the "cool" category. I have a long way to go until I'm able to manage in a huge contest hall like here."

They grew silent as the contestants started performing with their Pokémon, showing off the well-groomed appearance and polished moves. Brendan sat there quietly, eyes sparkling at the awe of the performance. He's going to train his party up to be able to perform this well and enter the contest some day...

Voile shook her head at him. She wondered if it was something he really wanted. She didn't feel that within him. It was probably an inkling of a desire, but not something he'd seriously pursue, not the way her trainer had. Voile was more than used to living the contest life, however, being pampered and primped to be shown off.

It was sort of sad when she thought about it. Well, when she seriously began to think about it. Back before she knew any better, she'd just gone along with it. Of course, back then she'd also thought her trainer was her entire world. Hoenn couldn't really compare to him, after all.

If he should ever need any help, she thought to herself, then I want to be of assistance.

His reaction and how absolutely adorable he was made her so easily give in. She watched him a few moments longer and in that very innocent Voile way, she curled a leafy arm around his and drew in close. She could never deny that she was an affectionate little thing.
