Strangely enough, as Hawke walked downtown, he might have felt a familiar presence a short distance back. Orange Star CO Jake was also taking a walk through downtown, hands in his pockets, obliviously listening to his music. He was a man on a mission. What that mission was? That was anyone's guess. He didn't say anything; he was far enough back from Hawke that he knew he wouldn't be able to hear him, but strangely enough, Jake seemed to be following Hawke wherever he walked.
Being military trained, Hawke certainly knew how to tell if he was being followed. It was a sort of feeling gained from experience, and it slowly creeped up on him as he made his way downtown. Starting as a hunch, the telltale feeling slowly grew until curiosity got the better of him and he glanced backwards.
Oh. Jake. Immersed in his music as usual, it seemed. But why he was following Hawke was a bit strange, and the CO wanted to get to the bottom of it.
Jake waved. "Hey, bra," he greeted when he finally caught up to Hawke. "You goin' out shopping too?" he asked. He didn't seem to see anything wrong with this.
Signs pointed to no. Granted, he hadn't really thought about where he was going, but scoping out new coffee shops was always a good bet. One never new what you might find in a downtown coffee establishment, and Hawke did quite enjoy bringing home new kinds of coffee.
To drink black. Like his soul.
"Just for a walk." He replied. "Are you shopping?"

He stopped walking and turned. "Jake."
