Boldly going where no man has gone before...

What: Captain Falcon may or may not have sometimes wondered about the hows and whys of his amazing ability to spontaneously combust himself. Samus offers a possible explanation but, a battery of tests will have to be performed first. In other words, this is a log in which Falcon has things stuck in him. Probably painful things.
Who: Two people ( Read more... )

The gunship might of beep boop beep'd and blinked a light or two at Falcon but otherwise shown no interest or disinterest in the display of affection. Samus however, returned it with a quick peck. PDA was one thing but in private she was far more inclined to show and be receptive of affection. If anything the gunship might of duly noted the action got Ms. Aran to SMILE, something not surprisingly not very often seen by the ship. Imagine that.

Unfortunately that little smile was short lived and gave way to a serious business frown as she gestured for him to take a seat over there in the cockpit chair. His apprehension was hard to miss, and she was sure she'd be seeing more of that as this session went on. Relax. "For starters I'm just going to take down some basic information. The ship has some of your basics already but current height, weight, blood pressure, all that fun stuff..." As she said this she taped to his skin a pair of simple heart-rate monitors under his shirt and a couple of similar looking multi-purpose monitors on his ( ... )

For a moment Falcon maybe half expected the gunship to make some kind of cheeky remark or zap him in the butt or something. Raptor Perry most certainly would have, which only reminded him that the disk was still missing. The magazines, however, had mysteriously returned to the bottom drawer of his desk, sans disk, relatively untouched but maybe a little stickier than usual. The Captain would have thought more of it and probably investigated the situation further had it not been the week Black Shadow had decided to show up. So there had been bigger things to worry about.

He nodded and took a seat, figuring she'd want him there anyway, but waiting for her invitation to actually do so. As Samus hooked him up to the monitors, he hoped they were fireproof, Falcon guessed that she should probably know everything he knew. Even if it seemed irrelevant, every little bit would help. And there were no needles yet. That helped too ( ... )

No needles or other fun things yet.

Surprise Falcon, the monitors did in fact not melt as his arm was self-ignited. The monitors did their thing and the ship's computer monitors were scrolling by with information. Temperature, composition, heart rate, salinity levels among other things. Samus crossed her arms and started to formulate a theory or two... or three. Damn, it could a lot of things. "Hm. Okay, you can stop." From what he told her and what the vague read outs were telling her so far, Pyrokinesis honestly sounded like the most likely answer [simplest answer probably too] but Samus didn't know a lot about it, nor was she as inclined to believe in psychic abilities when she had science and logic to play with first. Supernatural science at best. So that's what she was going to do.

"Since you said it started when you were young, I'm guessing with the onset of puberty it might have to do with hormone balance and control." Samus shifted her weight, aware this was very easy to explain in an incredibly boring manner, so she tried ( ... )

He'd always had a sneaking suspicion that it was his sheer manliness igniting with passion.

Falcon was no biologist by any stretch of the imagination, but it wasn't that hard to understand what Samus was talking about, especially when the most promising theory all boiled down to hormones. In the back of his mind, he'd always kind of thought it had something to do with that, mostly because he'd spent puberty trying very hard to not set things on fire. It was just easier to call it pyrokinesis, even if he wasn't sure how much of it was mental. If it was completely mental, he'd be able to ignite other things, wouldn't he? Or even FIREBEND manipulate it remotely or with more dexterity than just 'set fist on fire, punch, repeat'.

Those thoughts completely distracted him from the first of what was sure to be very many needles. It was a good theory, but Samus was right. It really didn't explain much at all. He cocked an eyebrow at her second explanation. That...made sense too, but for some reason Falcon didn't want that to be the answer. ( ... )

Samus nodded, "That's fine."

She took a step back to give him some space and leaned against the console. She might as well keep talking science until they had some perspiration to work with.

"Both ideas kind of tie in with one another. Perspiration is composed of a lot of things. Mostly water and salt but other chemical compounds too, which is why I'm wondering if any of yours just happen to be extra flammable."

"It might also explain why you don't simultaneously burn yourself; urea is also found in sweat." She said matter of factly. Samus was conveniently leaving out Urea was a glorified name for liquid bodily waste, more commonly found in urine. "The same stuff used in most dry chemical fire extinguishers. It might act as flame-proofing agent for the surface of your skin while everything else just above it is set ablaze. Hm ( ... )
