[ a rather clumsy redhead seems to have knocked her journal open on a kitchen counter; therefore, welcome to an impromptu showing of 'cooking with anne shirley'. now that she has shaken a rather mild case of the sniffles, she is eager to get back to domestic bliss. marilla would've chastised her most severely for how lax she has been ( Read more... )

[This one is Anne and she seemed really attached to Haruhi in the meetings. There was also that time Sokka rescued her, too... In any case, pie is pie and Sokka isn't going to just pass up on free desserts.]

Some pie would be nice.

...Haruhi!

[ oh, good. she would love the other girl's company. it isn't that her housemates aren't fine company but kurt is gone and the mood is dour and anne wants to blunder through to happiness. ]

Then you must come over. The first has just gone into the oven but I really wouldn't mind if you were here before it was ready.

[Oh. Oh great. Given he has no idea where Anne lives. He could ask Haruhi, but that might be suspicious. Hm.]

Come over to your place?

I am certain that the others won't mind. There has been a veritable lack of mirth since Kurt was taken.

[Charlie had been watching the pie-making with fascination. She hadn't seen anyone do that in years. Not since her mother. When the other redhead starts talking, Charlie is first and foremost impressed at how friendly she seems. Secondly, she has no clue the other woman will be able to see her face. She hasn't quite figured out how her journal works. Oh, well. Hello, Anne. Have another red-head.]

That wasn't disruptive at all. It was...neat. You look like you know exactly what you're doing and I'm a tad jealous.

Jealous? Oh, don't be. It is not very hard to learn and I certainly would not mind teaching. Really, the most difficult part is the crust and I can simply never get them as tender and flaky as Marilla's very own recipe but I still try. That is probably the most important part about baking -- the trying. It's awfully key to always try.

Practice makes perfect. [Pause.] I'm Charlie. I'm a New Feather. [Another uncertain pause, nose wrinkling slightly.] Is that the right term for me?

Well, I suppose that does depend -- doesn't it? Have you just arrived? Just arriving is often the surest sign of a New Feather.

[ charlie, though. what an odd name for a girl! ] I'm Anne. Anne Shirley. Anne with an e.

...Entertaining ones, preferably. Or tales of knights and heroes and damsels. Do you have any of those?

I suspect we have some very hard thinkers in the village. I would've hated for my clatter to distract them from their thinking.

How are you, Caroline?

I'm afraid to say that things could be better. But we all must get by how we can. Better to save your breath to cool your porridge rather than complain. That's what Marilla always said.

That sure looks real good! Man, I ain't had pie in ages! [It is one of those things his mom had made on a few occasions - and something he unfortunately could never make himself with his lack of cooking/baking talent.]

A-ah. I think you mean that you haven't had pie in ages.

That's what I said, right? [At least, that's what he thinks he said.]
