Title: When Anya Met Jack, Part 2
Author: sl_podcast aka Tabz
Rating: PG-13 (for swearing)
Fandom: Buffy/Torchwood (Post Season 7 of Buffy, Post Series 2, but Pre-Children of Earth of Torchwood)
Characters: Anya, Jack and Inato
Summary: Where exactly do ex-demons go when they die? Apparently some rift in Cardiff...
A/N: I don't own the rights to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, nor to Torchwood.... but if I did I probably wouldn't keep them all so miserable. Special thanks to piratescribe for the suggestion for a Anya/Jack crossover. Also, this story is itching to be longer, so you'll get more tomorrow. And this is more of a crack premise than a crack fic. :D
Click here for Part 1. Anya sat down heavily on the floor. The lack of nearby chairs made this a bit of an awkward dramatic gesture, but she couldn't stand anymore. "Sunnydale is gone? They're all... dead?" Anya blinked back hot, stinging tears. "How is that possible?"
Inato started to speak but Jack shot him a silencing look. Sitting next to Anya he wrapped an arm around her shoulder. It was times like these that most people would try to console and comfort with words, but Jack knew how worthless that all was. Instead he just sat with her.
Tears streamed down Anya's face and she leaned into Jack's chest without even thinking about it. Then, as if suddenly realizing, she sat up straight. Wiping at her eyes Anya gave a false laugh. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't be so emotional. I've been human too long."
Shooting a look at Jack Inato squatted down to look Anya directly. "Human?" There was a creeping worry in his voice.
"Yes, I was a demon. Vengeance demon." Anya sniffled and Jack handed her a handkerchief. "Thank you." Anya blew her nose, loudly. The noise made Inato flinch, but Jack seemed oblivious.
"Vengeance demon?" Jack's disbelief wasn't masked.
Anya's tears were pretty much dried and she waved the handkerchief with an annoyed movement. "Yes, why do you people keep repeating whatever I say?"
"We've had the pleasure of meeting a demon before." Inato looked at Jack. "Have we?"
"Nope! You're the first one." Jack said. "What's a vengeance demon."
Anya sighed. "You know, I'm very tired. Can I explain my entire life history later?"
Jack jumped to his feet and reached down to take Anya's hand. "Of course, come with me I have the perfect place for you to get some sleep."
There was a small "thank you" smile on Anya's face as Jack walked her away. Ianto returned to the work station with a small inward sigh. When Jack returned Inato gave him another look. "So when are you going to tell her that this happened five years ago?"
Jack crossed his arms and looked at the monitor. "We need more information first. Did you find anything about vengeance demons?"
"Nothing on the Torchwood database, but I just started the search."
Jack shook his head. "Just when I thought I'd heard of it all."
