Dr. Skullard cries too much. Diagnosis?

Yesterday I watched the 64th and final episode of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, which was not only a very enjoyable show to watch but also marks the longest week-to-week viewing commitment I've ever sustained since the advent of DVDs.  A show kept my attention with just one episode a week for more than a year?  Toss the ritalin, folks!  Fidget ( Read more... )

In the words of Galligher, "It's okay to laugh just so long as you don't point." XD

I think you should apply for a grant to research this further. I'm sure the NSF would be happy to buy you more anime.

When J was pregnant she used to cry at mortgage commercials.

Oh Lawd, maybe I'm hormonal? Parts of me look pregnant, and I'm a few decades late with my period.

As I understand it, there's a lot of people crying over mortgage commercials these days, but for very different reasons.

Don't think I won't try for that grant, by the way. I really need a change of employment.

I've not watched all of Brotherhood, but I *did* watch the original run of the stories, and teared up on quite a few occasions. So if you're a big ol' girlieman, at least we can be girliemen together... which in retrospect, doesn't sound entirely appealing.
It's a good show though. Good stuff.

I'm going to watch back through Brotherhood with Luka, who hasn't seen any of 'em yet, but I do intend on watching the original run soon. It's an all-time classic, and I already love the story and characters.

Girliemen can hang together just so long as they keep thier shirts on and have at least one pizza box between them at all times.

Hey, if you ever have any anime you can recommend, I'm always lookin' for good ones. Gimme a holler!

I think everyone (except for a few hardened bastards - I'm looking at you, Sarah Palin) gets more empathetic as they get older. I'll always be immune from the crude Spielberg-type of manipulation, but anytime people are authentically in distress (say, on the news) I immediately get verklempt.

Put me in a room with someone who is upset and I become just as upset - I can't filter his/her emotions out. Good thing I'm not a social worker or police officer. I think this is evidence that we improve as we age and become more human.

That's obviously the nicer way to think about it, and yeah, I do hope I'm getting more empathetic with age. I like to pretend to be a hardened bastard a lot of the time, but I get the feeling most folks aren't buying the act.

No Spielberg, huh? Not even Schindler's List? I bawled in that one. Then again, even a CGI Disney film gets me sniffling anymore. Girlieman indeed.

As much as I hate to go against the weeping/wanking correlation, but I think Luka might be right here. I know when I am completely exhausted, I tend to get a lot more emotional. Also when I'm otherwise stressed or just kind of have a lot of things going on. Case in point: last week trying to destress after our basement flooded, I watched The Neverending Story with my niece. The part where the horse died? I was inconsolable for a full five or ten minutes.

TL;DR, I feel your pain. :)
