I hear from time to time that we're heading for a cashless society. I don't believe that.
There are numerous problems with the idea of a cashless society, beyond the difficulties that would have to be overcome to implement it, which are great in themselves.

I've recently finished listening to an unabridged recording of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It has kept me company on my commute to classes.

Over the last couple of days, I pulled out my desktop machine again and tried to reinstall Linux on it. I don't know what the problem is with that machine, because I've had intermittent trouble with it ever since I bought it. I took a very long nap yesterday and slept way in today. The dark circles under my eyes are almost all gone. So, I guess I'm somehow managing to catch up on sleep even with going to bed late. But I still want to get to bed earlier.
