eHarmony is causing dissonance...

eHarmony, the evangelical sponsored dating site developed by Christian right-winger Dr.Neil Clark Warren (who has close ties and associations with Focus on the Family), is getting sued for their very public refusal to offer their services to the Gay community ( Read more... )

Yeah, I see your point, but I don't see it as a grey area because they intentionally based their research on heterosexual studies only because they did not want to promote same sex relationships. To me, it would be like a pharmacy refusing to sell medicine to someone of a certain race, because the drug was not "tested" or "developed" for that race. It's absurd to me ( ... )

So if they don't care gay personals, why can't the gay people go somewhere else? I mean it's their business, they don't cater to everyone. And that is not discrimination.
Sometimes gay people see deiscrimination everywhere. Ugh.

I agree that people call yell "discrimination" over every little issue, but Gays are not the only group of people turned down by eHarmony. The company has also turned people down based on divorce. According to one source I read, eHarmony has turned away over 1 million people based on issues, such as sexual preference and divorce, to name a few.

I still think that their decisions are less business/scientific than they claim, and based more on ethics.

I just think the article is interesting, LOL. Although I'm not heavily opinionated on the subject, I think it makes for a fun discussion haha.

Not sure I see a big difference in eHarmony focusing on their demographic and manhunt or men4sexnow focusing on men wanting sexytime with other men.

I like that Chemistry.com is bashing them; I think it's a great marketing campaign (although the investors of the same company seem to have been interested in eHarmony early on).

Let them have their website and let us have www.packmyfudge.com

haha I know -- I posted the story just because I have a few lingering grudges against Focus on the Family, so I was pleased that there has been some media spin on this story.

I think that its good that people are challenging issues like 'exclusion' -- whether it was intentional exclusion or not, I just like seeing them squirm a bit haha! (That would be my inner bitch coming out haha)
