November 30th -- [Closed to Dante] runebladeknight November 30 2011, 04:17:13 UTC
Celes hadn't been out after sirens many nights since her stay in this city. It had been only prudent at first; she'd been injured at the time of her arrival, and thus it would have been most unwise to tempt fate in such a manner ( ... )

Because of the recent mystery involving new monsters that ate people, Dante had taken to patrolling during the night time more often. Truth be told he found little more than the usual monsters. By now he had a pretty good idea of which monsters spawned where, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary ( ... )

Her first indication that she wasn't alone was the gunshots. They were something to note, surely, but she had more immediate issues at hand. And then the familiar voice rose up. Oh. Him ( ... )

Dante swiveled around and launched his sword at the Hound, who took just a moment too long to get back to its feet. The sword impaled the creature, pinning the Viscera as well.

"Hmm." Dante was expecting his sword to come flying back to him, but it just stayed there where it landed. He ended up sauntering over to the mass of fur and blood and retrieving the sword himself.

Then he turned to Celes. "Oh look, an angel's come to save me from these buggers!"

[ It moves at a lethargic pace, barely taller than five feet but it appears to be bigger than it truly is. Its eyes glowed a vibrant color, its body the deep color of blood. Every once in a while it seems to disappear, reappearing suddenly a few blocks down. If one has good eyesight in the Darkness, they might see that it hasn't teleported but instead has quickly made its way in a manner similar to running, if it had any limbs.

It's looking for victims; anything that moves is a potential target. Alternating between slow and fast-paced moving, it mostly stays in the same sector for a few hours, until it has either killed or encountered nothing. Abilities are useless, and hand-to-hand combat isn't advised. The only way to get rid of this monster is to run, in case you find yourself consumed by this being. ]

Damn damn damn...

[Most people didn't like getting stuck out in the darkness. Most sane people tried to avoid it as much as possible. And Duo was usually among them. Usually. But lately he'd actually been working later hours of the day, which of course with the shortened availability of sunlight that meant that he was getting out of work closer and closer to the sirens.

This night just seemed to be the one where he tested his luck just a little bit too much. He bolted through the streets, ducking behind whatever hiding place he could come across long enough to catch his breath while hoping he could just get home before something caught him. He didn't know what his power was, he didn't have a gun... he was virtually defenseless.

But of course luck wasn't going to be on his side. Just as he rounded a corner that was so close to his apartment, he saw it.]

What the--?!

[ It had barely finished devouring a poor, unfortunate soul when Duo rounded the corner. A stray piece of ... something came spilling out of its mouth as it digested the sight of him. Warm, potentially tasty and fresh food. Its eyes lock on him, empty but enternally hungry.

Such is the life of a Viscera. A few brief seconds pass before it lunges at full-speed, though its accuracy may be a little off. The newly added weight was still unfamiliar. ]

[Duo stared, shocked frozen where he stood at first.

It was eating some one.

It was eating some one whole.

He could see their eyes. Once blue eyes that were now glazed over, foggy, clearly dead but staring at him from the depths of the oozing red creature none the less.

That was an image that would be burned in to his mind for the rest of his life.

Not that he was given much chance to think about it. One second he was staring at dead eyes, the next the damn thing was leaping right for his face with every intent of making him the next victim.

He screamed. Loudly. And with a flail managed to dive and roll out of the way, coming to a stop in a crouch in the empty street.]

[The monster likes to crawl along the ground, easily mistaken for a trail of blood and guts of some idiot who's been caught and killed for the most part. Slow, but time has almost become a meaningless concept. Inconspicuous, for the most part.

For that other part, mostly after the monster has spent a while creeping slowly, steadily, to its final destination (a place that it feels drawn to, compelled to visit one last time). It's only when it's nearby that the monster changes, no longer creeping slowly along the cracked pavement but reforming into the shape of a young man who had once travelled through these dark dangerous nights. Tall, six-foot or more, solidly built-- does it remind you of someone?]

[she shouldn't be out in the Darkness. she knows better. but the recent teleporter malfunction she caused -- completely and totally by accident! -- left her stuck out after sirens in an area she isn't terribly familiar with

it doesn't help she's overly distracted trying to work out how she messed up with the teleporters, focused on equations and algorithms more than where she's going or what's hiding in the Darkness]

[It's started to run with speed and poise that it felt it had not possessed in another life, if such a life had truly existed, but then something about its surrounds changes and it's distracted from the lure of that special place, that goal.

There's someone here, not another thing like him, dark and dirty, but something else, a thing that can satiate its hunger, its thirst.

So it moves towards the new thing it senses instead, for it may disappear at any moment, but the place it's looking for ... it feels it will always be there.]

[it takes her a bit longer than is really safe to notice that something isn't right. there's movement in the shadows, a feeling that something isn't as it seems, and the TARDIS stops in her tracks, peering around in confusion. part of her says she should keep moving, that it isn't safe, but she stamps it down. the Darkness hasn't hurt her yet, and she's curious about the monsters inhabiting it]

Is someone there?

"MINAKO! MINAKO?! WHERE ARE YOU?!" Daniel came barreling down the street, his mind frantic. Some sort of monster was out here after his new girlfriend and he wasn't about to let her die. Not before they even had a first date! He couldn't let her go. He had his gun in his vest and some ammo. He wasn't that great at using it yet but he could at least shoot a bit. Plus he had his powers which he really knew how to use. But first he had to find her. He was in section four but this place was huge. How was he going to find her? He kept running, calling her name at the top of his lungs. Darkness monsters be damned.

And Minako wasn't able to stay in one place, either. That thing... it could ooze in to places smaller than she could ever hope to fit, and with the chained up criminal having to be in tow behind her, they were sitting ducks for the creature. He couldn't climb, she couldn't fight...

She could only keep moving, stopping long enough for them to catch their breath, but avoiding alleyways and corners were they could potentially be trapped. The boy may have been a petty thief, and was basically a liability now, but she wasn't about to leave him to die.

Eventually could hear Daniel calling for her, but it was distant, and she knew that damn thing was still behind her.

"... DANIEL!"

Screw it. She couldn't deal with this thing alone.

Daniel heard her voice, his ears easily telling him which direction she was in. But he wasn't running fast enough. He had to go faster. And he knew how. He aimed his hands downward and began to sing as fast as he could.

"Marryhadalittlelamp littlelamp littlelamp. Marryhadalittlelamp whosefleecewaswhiteassnow!" The energy burst from his hands, sending him flying through the air and towards the sound of her voice. He landed on his feet, having caught a glimpse of her up ahead. He did it again, rocketing through the air. Once once he reached a certain distance his powers cut out, sending him falling to the ground. He landed fine, luckily, but had to run the rest of the way.

"MINAKO! OVER HERE!"
