[The monster likes to crawl along the ground, easily mistaken for a trail of blood and guts of some idiot who's been caught and killed for the most part. Slow, but time has almost become a meaningless concept. Inconspicuous, for the most part.

For that other part, mostly after the monster has spent a while creeping slowly, steadily, to its final destination (a place that it feels drawn to, compelled to visit one last time). It's only when it's nearby that the monster changes, no longer creeping slowly along the cracked pavement but reforming into the shape of a young man who had once travelled through these dark dangerous nights. Tall, six-foot or more, solidly built-- does it remind you of someone?]

[she shouldn't be out in the Darkness. she knows better. but the recent teleporter malfunction she caused -- completely and totally by accident! -- left her stuck out after sirens in an area she isn't terribly familiar with

it doesn't help she's overly distracted trying to work out how she messed up with the teleporters, focused on equations and algorithms more than where she's going or what's hiding in the Darkness]

[It's started to run with speed and poise that it felt it had not possessed in another life, if such a life had truly existed, but then something about its surrounds changes and it's distracted from the lure of that special place, that goal.

There's someone here, not another thing like him, dark and dirty, but something else, a thing that can satiate its hunger, its thirst.

So it moves towards the new thing it senses instead, for it may disappear at any moment, but the place it's looking for ... it feels it will always be there.]

[it takes her a bit longer than is really safe to notice that something isn't right. there's movement in the shadows, a feeling that something isn't as it seems, and the TARDIS stops in her tracks, peering around in confusion. part of her says she should keep moving, that it isn't safe, but she stamps it down. the Darkness hasn't hurt her yet, and she's curious about the monsters inhabiting it]

Is someone there?

[Oh, that noise! It's not the grunting of the other creatures confined to this darkened hour but that of some other existent thing. Something tasty. It's more than just a feeling, it's really there -- and so close by as well!

The monster turns his head, and begins to run in the direction he heard the noise (voice?) from.]

[when nothing answers, she at least has the sense to start moving, hurrying toward the nearest safe zone, boot clomping on the road much louder than she'd prefer. a hint of fear begins to grow in the pit of her stomach and she wonders if maybe she should have had something on her to protect herself]

[It follows the noise, starting to run now. Soon, it tells itself, soon its prey will be both seen and heard.]

[it takes a moment for the TARDIS to realise what it is she's feeling: terror. she doesn't feel it often, but when she does, it strikes hard. the sense of something there, of it getting closer -- it's a suffocating sort of sensation and the ship quickens her pace, any pretense of wanting to find out what's in the Darkness fleeing as quickly as her steps. she doesn't know where it is or if it's close, but it's an answer she tells herself she can live without, groping through the Darkness in a desperate bid for safety]
