(
it's a sick sight )
Minako had heard whispers and rumors about the strange new monsters that were about, but right then she was paying it no thought. She hadn't seen these monsters yet, so for the moment her main focus was the scrawny, stupid teenager running away from her holding a bag of money and other things he'd stolen from a convenience store. Naturally she had been in the neighborhood, walking home with minutes to spare before the sirens when she'd seen him fled and heard the frightened clerk calling for help. Obviously the kid had thought if he made his move with enough seconds to spare before the darkness, he could use the sirens to keep from being chased and found.
Not quite the case.
The sirens had already gone off and the darkness had settled as it always did at night, but the teen had refused to stop running even after that. Never mind the very obvious sailor suited girl giving chase - one would think the threat of monsters would have been enough to make him at least try to hide or get some where safe.
He really wasn't the smartest bulb in the dark, that was for sure.
Frankly she was getting tired of chasing him, too, but she wasn't about to let him just get away either. Luckily stamina seemed to be on her side, and he started stumbling and tripping as he slowed, giving her enough of an opening to jump up the wall of a building and launch herself at him in a nearly Parkour-like move, kicking him in the side with enough force to cause him to drop his stolen items and go tumbling and sprawling in to the street.
Venus landed and approached him, earning an actual fearful whimper in response as he sat up and tried to scramble away. Venus would have none of this and quickly unleashed her Venus Chain on him. The chain wrapped around his arms and torso, causing him to fall once he was bound. Venus sighed at him then, shaking her head while he continued to try and inch away from her.
"D-don't kill me!"
She raised an eyebrow at that.
"... I'm not going to kill you. What ever gave you that idea? I was going take you to the police, where you belong after that foolish stunt. That's all. What makes you think I'd hurt you at all?"
Venus never got an answer. At least not an answer that she wanted. Mostly because something behind her some how got the boy's attention, and he began screaming loudly.
"What are you--?!"
Venus' - or rather Minako's- words died in her throat when in a flash of orange her transformation deactivated, leaving her standing in the street clothes she'd been wearing earlier that day. The boy didn't notice, as he was too busy panicking over whatever had apparently caused the sudden loss of power. Unfortunately that loss of power also caused the power to fade from her chain, leaving it bound to him but no longer enchanted. Minako finally turned, only to see a disturbing mass of a creature, faded red in color and oozing towards them at a rather frightening pace.
She didn't scream, but a frightened cry emitted from her all the same as she went stumbling backwards away from it, uncertain of what to do without her powers. Her NV, which had been in her pocket, fell and hit the ground where it opened and turned on unnoticed by her. The only thought that came to mind was "run", and she started to do just that. Until the frightened voice of the teen reached her ears.
"DON'T LEAVE ME HERE!" he screamed, struggling and failing to get out of the chain. Minako hesitated, but honor refused to let him become a victim. She doubled back, attempting to yank the chain free but finding it unwilling to budge without her powers.
"W... we have to run! Get up!" she yelled, grabbing his arm and yanking him to his feet. She just barely caught sight of her NV on the ground and snagged it before they took off, looking for an alleyway to hide in.
It wasn't going to be deterred that easily, though.

She could only keep moving, stopping long enough for them to catch their breath, but avoiding alleyways and corners were they could potentially be trapped. The boy may have been a petty thief, and was basically a liability now, but she wasn't about to leave him to die.
Eventually could hear Daniel calling for her, but it was distant, and she knew that damn thing was still behind her.
"... DANIEL!"
Screw it. She couldn't deal with this thing alone.

"Marryhadalittlelamp littlelamp littlelamp. Marryhadalittlelamp whosefleecewaswhiteassnow!" The energy burst from his hands, sending him flying through the air and towards the sound of her voice. He landed on his feet, having caught a glimpse of her up ahead. He did it again, rocketing through the air. Once once he reached a certain distance his powers cut out, sending him falling to the ground. He landed fine, luckily, but had to run the rest of the way.
"MINAKO! OVER HERE!"

"We have to get somewhere--!"
All at once she skidded to a halt, though, as the blob-like creature slithered along the ground and stopped in between where they stood. Minako stumbled away, but kept her balance despite her obvious fear. Her charge, however, was much less graceful and landed right on his ass.
"I-I can't keep runnin' from this thing like this!" he cried out, turning a pleading look on his captor. "You put me in this! You gotta get me out of it!"
Minako didn't bother arguing the point and bent down to try to wrestle with the chains again. The creature was more focused on her right then, but there was a chance it could be easily distracted.

"W-What the hell?! Why aren't my powers working?! Damn it!" He pulled out his gun and aimed at the monster. He squared himself and fired, the bullets flying inside the monster but they didn't seem to do much other than draw it's attention.
"Son of a bitch..."

At the last second she remembered that even if she couldn't transform, she did keep her Crescent Blade on her from her old Sailor V costume. She pulled it out of her pocket and quickly swiped at the chain, finally snapping it and freeing the teen. They both stood with every intent to run the hell away, but their motions became much more interesting to the creature than the cat with the gun.
It turned on them and moved with surprising speed across the distance, tentacle-like protrusions launching out from it's sinewy mass. In a surprising turn, just as it was about to reach for Minako, the teen pushed her out of the way. She fell to the ground and looked up only in time to see the creature latch on to his legs and take him down hard and drag his body towards itself.
He didn't scream.
She didn't know why he didn't scream, when he had been so afraid to die earlier.
She reached out for him frantically, but already it was too late. The boy looked up at her with wide eyes, just as the entire blob enclosed around him.
"NO!"
"You helped--" was all the boy got to say before there was a sickening CRUNCH, and what blood wasn't instantly taken inside the thing sprayed across Minako's face. There was a moment of silence while the creature digested it's unfortunate pray before Minako began shrieking, shaking hands to her face desperately trying to rub the blood off, but only making it smear worse.
If Daniel didn't hurry, she was going to be next.

Minako was dragged to her feet and pulled along, but she couldn't stop her panic. She had never seen some one die before, let alone get devoured in front of her. The feel of blood on her skin... it was still warm, sticky, wrong.
"No no no no no..." she was chanting under her breath as Daniel tried to get her out of there.

"We're almost there! Keep running!"

She had started sobbing at some point, but it didn't stop her from moving. Tears rolled down her cheeks rapidly, vision blurring. She tightened her grip on Daniel's hand since it was the only way to keep from losing him.

He caught sight of it moving outside the door, the silhouette of that horrible monster. How could something like that go unnoticed for so long? And why was it here now? It moved outside, ducking and dodging before seeming to give up and slink away into the night. Oh damn it all. That...that was terrifying.

She wouldn't sleep, even though she was exhausted. She couldn't stop crying, even though her eyes burned and her head ached. She could only wait with him until the sun rose again, and hope that the creature would vanish with the light...
