[ Helen had been in the hospital when it happened but hadn't heard until a couple of hours after the fact. She'd gotten the information from a nurse, thankful that it wasn't any worse than it was, and pleased with what she'd heard; Helen trusted the abilities and skills of all at Skye.

It's around half-four when Helen reaches Re-l's room, not expecting her to be awake just simply stopping by to see her. Seeing her awake, however, Helen gives a gentle knock on the door before sliding it open to step in. First appearance tells Helen that she was incredibly lucky, and that Re-l looks better than her imagination gave her ]

[Re-l's awake and settled in bed, running any program she can access on her NV to get her mind off of how she's feeling. Someone must have stuck around earlier to let her healing do the work. She'll be paying for that later this week, she bets.

She looks up as Helen comes in, lifting a hand.]

Hi.

[ Helen gives her a small smile, letting the door close behind her before stepping further into the room. She'll see how talkative Re-l is before deciding whether or not to take the chair ]

How are you feeling? [ Worst question ever because after what she's been through it can't be good, but then again the Port is full of anomalies ]

Like I was hit by a burning truck.

[Not extremely specific, but she knows a burn when she has one, and these are pretty annoying. The pain's dulled down but she still feels like hell warmed over.]

I take it you're not my doctor, though.

[News of the true identity of Zulfiqar has yet to spread. Zulfi was well liked by the hospital staff, always offering to create ointments and elixirs. He was always turned down but the desire to help was honest enough.]

[The masked gunslinger glides more than walks into Re-l's room. He is being stealthy about it as he slinks over to her and sits on the side of the bed, removing the mask.]

[She really wishes she could just go back to sleep, but now she's wired and paranoid. Daedalus isn't here. She hates hospital, even more so when the one person she actually trusts isn't looking at her charts and confirming things for her.

Re-l feels the weight on the bed and lifts her gaze from her NV. She nearly shouts.]

How the hell did you get in here?!

You sneak out of as many joints as yours truly, you learn a thing or two about sneaking in.

[He gently pats her leg.]

I wanted to see how my buddy was doing!

[She scowls.]

Just because I'm in a hospital bed doesn't mean I can't kick your ass from here to the station, even at this hour.

[ If he could give an estimation of what Hell looks like, it's the interior of a hospital. The sterility and the wandering doctors and mean-looking equipment aren't scary- they're just part of the background- it's the whole thing, the surroundings and the implications of what a visit means. Visiting is far worse than being holed up in here himself.

Considering it's his first visit here, Kotetsu's made an effort to turn up well-presented after midday, to get his bearings and ask the nurse to let him through (on account of it being a coworker and he has some important entirely fabricated business to discuss with her). But that won't settle the discomfort that's squirming about his system or the anticipation of seeing Re-l after the mixed reports of how badly she was injured ( ... )

[Someone's finally brought her clothes and she's taken twenty minutes just to get into them. Embarrassing. At least no one was around to see that spectacle. She sits on the middle of her bed with her NV in her lap, wearing simple jeans and a tank top. Her bandages are still on her one arm, opposing shoulder, and chest, but at least she can remove them later today. She's about done with sitting around like a helpless invalid.

She looks over when he slips in.]

Kotetsu?

[She's surprised he's here. Unless...he's come to pick her up. She hopes he has.]

What are you doing here?

[ The sight of her comes as a relief; even though she's bashed up and injured (though her slowly-healing injuries don't affect him, it looks like it hurt) the fact she's up and just about healthy-looking puts him at ease. She doesn't seem to be dwelling on the injuries much. Still- it takes a bit of effort to crack a smile through the concern that refuses to leave at just her appearance. ]

What's that, 'what're you doing here'? 'm saying hi, I heard about what happened. [ He drags a chair over from near the door to the side of her bed, carefully taking a seat and dropping a carrier bag beside it. ] But it looks like you're alright and kicking about even without a flood of visitors, Corporal.

[She gives him a faint smile, sitting up better to speak with him. She closes her NV and sets it aside.]

I wasn't really expecting visitors. If I ever go into a hospital, it's like a revolving-door; I'm out in a matter of hours. The longest I've ever been in a hospital here has been two days because my doctor didn't want me leaving.

[If she had it her way, she'd have been gone three hours ago at least.]

It's nice of you to visit. I didn't want people worrying, though.

[smug.jpg.

Well, he's not trying to be smug. That's just the impression his smile without view of his eyes gives you. Diego had stopped by this morning to get his stitches looked at, make sure everything was healing right and not getting infected-- and who should he find but Re-l?

He's leaning on the doorway of her room, a paper tray with four cups of coffee in hand.]

My, how the tables tend to turn.

[She's grateful to have gotten clothes before Diego's stopped in. It might have been embarrassing to be in a hospital gown a little else besides the goddamn bandages she wants to tear off. She sits with her legs folded on the bed, NV open on her lap. She doesn't even look up at first.]

Not another word, Diego.

[She closes two of her applications and lifts her head.]

What're you doing here?

Hey now, I'm not making fun of you. It happens to the best of us. [He lifts one of the coffees out of the tray, taking a sip.] I'm glad to see you're all right.

[He steps into the room, holding out the tray of coffee to offer one to her.]

The same thing I'm always doing here. Seeing a doctor.

Uh-huh.

[She takes the offered coffee and holds it in her hands for a bit, letting it warm them. The room's not warm enough for her.]

About what? Your war wound?

[ Damian had no plans to go in. He knows his place, and it was on the battlefield; not the side of a sick bed. He would not know what to do or say, and the whole thing would be pointless. At first, he had no plans to even come, but they talked and fought together. He would never admit it, but the older woman commanded a quiet respect from him. It wouldn't hurt to at least check if she was still alive enough to move and feed herself.

So, he makes his way to the hospital, peeking into her window with no intention to alert her of his presence. ]

[Since Joker's been in her room, she now has a scalpel tucked away by her bedside in case she has any other odd visitors. She's even talking to Batman on her NV, doing minor correspondence over "Red Hood's" death. Her one arm and opposite shoulder are entirely covered in bandages and everything else is hidden by the hospital gown, thankfully.

She doesn't notice him at first, thankfully, though she almost expects Batman to be visiting at some point.]

[ Her injuries were relatively minor, considering the fact that a bomb was involved. (Honestly. An exploding helmet? There were theatrics, and there were ridiculous theatrics. ) With that confirmed, Damian can leave. That was all he came to know, after all.

With silent footsteps, he moves to climb his way onto the roof. However, as he plants a foot onto the ledge of a window above, it slips. He manages to grab a hold of something before falling completely, but his efforts at staying silent are effectively thwarted. Re-l will hear the shuffling of boots and fabric, along with the soft tingling of the tools inside his utility belt. ]

[She does, in fact, and lifts her head to look at the window. She grabs her scalpel and goes over, looking up and seeing... Well, the underside of a Robin. She quickly opens the window.]

Here, drop down.
