[ He comes as soon as he hears the news, rushing up in the morning as soon as he's allowed to see her.

Poking his head in hesitantly, she honestly doesn't look too bad, all things considered. There are a millions things he wants to ask, of course, (are you ok? did it hurt? when can you go home??), but he settles for something different. ]

...Hey.

[ A beat. ]

Can I come in?

[She smiles when she sees him, setting her NV down immediately.]

Hey. Yeah, sure, come on in. There's a chair in here for you.

[ At her invitations, he scoots in and closes the door, pulling up the seat so he can sit at her side, concerned but not as much as he thought he'd be. She really doesn't look too bad. ]

How are you doing?

[She shrugs, the gesture hurting her shoulder a little. She sets her hands in her lap.]

Better than I was. Everything's kind of sore, but...well, that's to be expected.

I didn't think I'd get visitors.

[ it's nearing the end of his shift when John hears about the explosion that's hospitalized a police officer. news of this sort of thing spreads pretty quickly when you work in said facility, though his stomach clenches when he learns the identity of the person who's been admitted.

he heads over to Re-l's room and raps his knuckles against the door. ]

[She hasn't been awake long, but she's cleaned herself up in the bathroom and has tried to walk around a little. Nothing's broken, but everything feels sore and tender and it's a pain to even move around. She sits down on the bed again, frustrated.

She looks up when she hears a knock.]

Come in.

[ ... well, that's a promising start and John walks into her room. he smiles, although it's difficult to conceal the look of disapproval at seeing her out of bed. sort of. ]

Hi there.

[She looks surprised to see him. Sure, she knows Daedalus isn't coming, but she didn't expect to see John.]

Hey. What're you doing here?

[ The last time Zoey talked to Re-l, it was when Zoey blew up at her in the masquerade ball. After several days of work and just trying calm the hell down, Zoey can begrudgingly see Re-l's point, though she rather thinks Re-l is still being too uptight about it. Probably doesn't get the whole 'laugh-in-the-face-of-danger' thing that Zoey has when at least feeling nervous.

So in the mid-afternoon, Zoey brought some discounted orange lilies to Re-l's room. She never considered the whole flower language deal except the whole 'roses as true love'. But if Zoey knew that the orange lily meant wealth or hatred and dislike, she would've picked another flower.

So she knocks anyway. ]

[She's back to working on her NV in bed, though she's dressed and is just biding time until she can walk out. She looks up at the knock.]

Come in.

[ Zoey comes in with the the lilies and stops in the doorway.

Looks like she bought those flowers for nothing. ]

Wow, they are gonna let you out so soon? I would've expected a day at least. Or not at all. [ She was kidding on the last part. Sort of. Hospitals are pain in the asses. ]

[ He doesn't really belong here. Doesn't know her, not really.

Which is why Robin showing up - even just to check in, even just for a minute - would be weird.

Still, he'd thought about it all the way through the last two hours of patrol. And all the way to the florist, once he's found one that opened not too long after Sirens. And all the way to the hospital, straight past whatever security they might have downstairs. And finally up to her room, in civvies.

Dick Grayson's just some kid. Some kid somebody paid to bring her flowers he certainly hadn't bought himself. There, he has his story straight. She won't even know.

Still, he takes the time to knock politely on the door before taking the initiative and walking in. She is a girl, after all. ]

[Some kid who actually comes to bring her flowers, apparently. She looks up, glad to have some clothes on at long last, and closes her NV.]

Come on in.

[ It's a more encouraging response than he'd really been expecting. He takes a quick step into the room and tries not to hunch his shoulders too much. ] Um. Special delivery?

[ There's not many in the bunch, but he takes a step forward and holds them out. ]

Oh.

[No, seriously, guys, why is she getting flowers. She slides off of the bed gingerly and walks over to him. She takes them carefully.]

Did anyone say who they're from?

[When he read the article in the newsfeed, Sirius had started off for the hospital then and there. Except, of course, he was useless at a hospital and what would he do and she was bound to have six million visitors and well-wishers and her boyfriend the doctor would have her room swarming with nurses and machines and tubes and--things, and so instead, Sirius went back home to the firehouse and waited. It would be better to wait for things to be clear and calmer, and then he could slip in as he pleased.

Waiting takes a bloody long time--too long--but eventually Sirius makes his way to the hospital. The formality of going through nurses and visiting hours and front desks seems annoying--and he's been there often enough that he can Apparate himself onto a floor and strike out in search of her from there. And it's really not difficult--the right nurse can be sweet-talked into at least giving him a room number--but still, it's late in the afternoon before Sirius pushes his shoulder against the door and slips in to the room.]

[And she's practically ready to bite off her own arm to get the hell out of there, already changed and signing off on the last of the forms she needs to. Everything hurts and she's glad that Daedalus brought her the leather jacket she asked for. She's standing by the window and writing out the last of what she needs, sending it off to the nurse when she hears Sirius. She looks over at him and gives him a light smile.]

Hey. Didn't expect you.

[He shrugs--yeah, well, being unpredictable is entertaining. But he doesn't say it; he glances her over. She heals. So it's all right. And even if she didn't, this is a hospital for a reason.]

Breaking out?

Nah, Daedalus finally came to sign me out. He had to leave, though, so I sent him off. I had to wait for the nurse to go over all of the exit procedures...and for the doctor to leave me instructions.

[Stupid. She's fine.]

Want to walk me out?
