[For once, Daedalus Yumeno might actually be clad a bit more elaborately outlandish than his partner.

It's a masquerade proper this time, after all- once confirming it wasn't quite the black tie and evening gown affair of last year's Lion's Gate masque, he'd resolved to find something a bit more costume-appropriate. And because it was Halloween, macabre was in season.

....Franz had a real laugh over it at least, his Medico Della Peste outfit, and the distinctive gilded plague mask.

It was a rental- Daedalus very pragmatically supposed he wouldn't have anywhere else to wear something so ostentatious, so it was only his for the evening. He was covered entirely, and hopefully not too many would figure out this was the mild and modest doctor- only some who watched close enough might recognize the ironic statement of a physician dressed in Venetian period costume.

[Those who don't recognize the doctor might, however, notice his attending angel. Ever resourcesful himself, Franz has only slightly updated his costume from last year, a beautiful gold angel of death mask, a fine tuxedo with tails and angel wings that shimmer with gold glitter. It seems that a glowing, graceful angel of death has arrived on the arm of the plague doctor.]

This is really amazing... [Franz murmurs under his breath to his companion.] This place always manages to produce such spectacle.

[Once they come down the steps and into the long room, past costumed attendants that make him lean back a little, Daedalus loosens their arms and clasps his hand instead, a bit more comfortable and less formal parading.

There's so much to look around and see- it's a bit much to take in at once, particularly after he's spend about a week lounging around the apartment.

His voice is muffled slightly from the beak, he has to lean in to be heard clearly.]

I could swear Elaine's expanded it, and she's redone the entire interior, since we went for the opening...

[Embellished gold and white winked where all the stately polished black marble normally rose from the floor in sleek columns. His eyes followed them all the way up to the ceiling, eyes widening at the sight of chandeliers.]

...Were the parties on Luna like this?

Only the really good ones.

[The bigger-inside space reminds him a little bit more of the Count's strange hideaway.]

They're not usually so... spooky, though. I do believe she's outdone herself.

[Here is Washu. Here is Washu wearing black hair ribbons, white knee socks, and a dress she mist have stolen from a moe chick and a mask that doesn't really hide her identity. No doubt she'll see some of her students here and she plans on horrifying them... And probably everyone else, considering she looks like a loli.

She cares not. See how she flits about uncaring, chatting up everyone like a curious little girl.]

[This is Tyrell. This is Tyrell wearing his usual outfit and some mask he was handed at the door. This is Tyrell coming across the girl/woman/what in the world is she even who (as much as he'd care not to admit to it) terrified him the last time they spoke.

When he catches sight out of her, he lets out a strangled yelp, and begins to shout.]

What are you doing here?!

[Oh, it's you. WELL, PREPARED TO HAVE YOUR PERSONAL SPACE INVADED.] Why shouldn't I be here? I didn't think this was an invitation-only party. [Yes, she's... Very coquettish, isn't she?]

[He visibly gulps, but his hands ball into fists all the same. Gotta keep calm. Can't burn a fancy place like this down.]

It just didn't seem like something that would suit someone like you!

[Is he insinuating something? You bet he is.]

[After a few hours' worth of hard work and shopping, Kurt has his costume perfected. He's especially proud of the long, ornate cloak he added to the ensemble, and in lieu of a mask he has arranged white flowers in his hair along with a pair of fake earrings. He looks delighted to be on his feet and even more delighted to be somewhere so dazzling and magical.

His night will be spent mostly at his date's side, a dapper-looking Blaine. No doubt will he want to socialize, though, especially since everyone is dressed so wonderfully. Expect him all around, exploring everything the party has to offer.]

Why mister Hummel, you look positively radiant. [Tifa slid through the guests to offer Kurt a smile from behind her mask (mentioned below) and offer him a reassuring squeeze on the arm.] It's nice to see you made it.

Tifa! Thank you. I'm feeling much better, yes, just in time for the festivities. [He beams at her, looking happier than he's looked in months.]

You're looking lovely yourself. That dress is phenomenal.

I'm glad to hear it, I was worried about you. [She colours a little behind her mask.] Thank you, I spent a long time worrying over it.

[ Yako's wearing a butterfly-shaped domino mask, colored a rich, vibrant burgundy that matches her somewhat unseasonably short dress. At the moment, though, it's pushed up onto her forehead, serving more as an over-sized hair accessory than its intended purpose-- the lower half of the mask tends to get in the way of eating.

Which is what she's doing, with gusto: where she stands, there seems to be a perpetual cloud of zombie waitstaff milling around with plates that seem to empty themselves in the blink of an eye. They might seem a little bemused (or it's just the rigor mortis setting in) as they shuttle food to placate Yako's seemingly endless stomach. There are wine-red gloves to match the dress as well, but she's pulled them off in the interest of not staining the material while she, well, pigs out.

Despite her apparent preoccupation, Yako's attention is on the room and the people milling around: there are one or two faces she's hoping to see, and one that she'd really, really rather not. ]

You look like you're feeling better, Miss Katsuragi. [Tifa approaches the buffet table with a smile.] At the least you look more comfortable in a dress again, instead of a suit.

[ Yako has to do some rather quick chewing and swallowing before she can answer, sheepishly--] Y-yeah, I'm definitely glad that's over with.

I can imagine. Did you ever figure out what caused it? [Tifa takes the opportunity to pop something bacon-wrapped into her mouth.]

[ Zoey has never been to a masquerade ball before. Well, okay, there's that time in the sixth grade with flimsy Mardi Gras masks, but she's not counting that time. (In fact, Zoey would rather pretend that day never existed at all.) But she spent a great deal of time and money on spending on a Halloween costume that she forgot about this particular party, so everything she got on is pretty much at the last minute. Considering the dress and the mask, Zoey thinks she did a bang-up job. Tucking loose strands of her hair behind her ear - the first time she ever let her hair down from a ponytail in public - she goes straight to the buffet table as quickly as she can with these measly high-heels.

Man, this place is wicked. Zoey approves whoever did the decor. ]

[Well, thank you. Although Morpheus gets a lot of the credit. Elaine's rather minimalistic and practical with her tastes.

Speaking of the hostess, she approaches to greet Zoey, outstretching her hand for a handshake.]

Good evening. Welcome to the Lux.

Um, you'll definately beat the HGTV design shows.

Thanks, but I didn't do it on my own -- Morpheus has a unique taste.
