Soma didn't want to see this guy, really -- granted, he had wanted to join the search for him after the crap he pulled at Fangtasia, but considering that would involve going out at night... he didn't want to chance it. He wasn't afraid of the monsters, he just didn't want to take too many unnecessary risks until he understood this place.

Now that Raphael was safely behind bars, though... well, that was safe enough. He didn't think the police would actually let him visit, but they surprisingly didn't ask too many questions.

And now he found himself a few inches away from the cell in question, not certain what exactly he was going to say. Somehow, slogging through Dracula's Castle felt much easier right now. Soma took a deep breath, before stepping forward, Raphael coming into view.

Raphael heard footsteps approaching, though did not lift his arm away from his eyes. He was not about to ask them to dim the lights for him, no matter how uncomfortable it made him. He could always just focus on the ache in his wounds or in the thirst tearing through him instead.

When the footsteps stopped, he waited until he could tell someone was standing outside before lifting his arm away and staring at him.

"What do you want?" he asked irritably.

"Just wanted to see the kind of person that would be dumb enough to pull off what you did," Soma replied evenly, stepping close so he was just in front of the bars, within grabbing range if Raphael wanted to get up and grab him. Stupid? Maybe, but it didn't look like the vampire was going to want to get up and move any time soon.

Oh, a gawker. "This is not a zoo," Raphael replied shortly, rolling over on the cot to face towards the wall. "Ask outside and they will direct you to one."

Another day without any blood, and Raphael was looking even worse. He looked dreadful and sick, red eyes glowing visibly in the dimness of the cell. One of the guards, it seemed, had taken pity on him and lowered the lights, though Raphael couldn't tell if he was grateful for it or hated him for the pity.

He was attempting to fall asleep until nightfall, despite how sick and weak he felt. At the sound of the familiar voice, he opened his eyes, twin blood-red pricks of light in the darkness.

"I agree. They let you in."

"I requested to be left alone, save for one person."

Raphael rolled over on the cot to face the wall, having no desire to let the boy watch him suffering.

"They treat me no more ineptly than they are inept at anything else. It is to be expected, from fools of their caliber."

Later in the day on the second day of Raphael's imprisonment, Amy arrived as she promised. As long as her father was here in jail, she would continue to visit, staying as long as she could by her father's side. There was nothing more she could ask for. Ever since the incident, though, she had refused to take blood-- all out of pride and a reluctance to let anyone help her as long as her father was here behind bars. This afternoon, Amy was beginning to look pale and weary, although not as weary as her father was. She worried greatly about him.

"Father... how are you?"

"Amy..." Raphael forced himself upright, taking a breath and vowing not to let his weakness show. No matter how exhausted he got, he refused to worry his daughter any more than she already was.

He stood from the cot and took a step towards the bars, reaching through them to take her hand. "I am fine, my dear. You needn't worry for me."

Silently, Amy moved to press against the bars, seeing as much as an embrace she could get from her father. Despite it only being two days, she despised the fact that she had to wait. She hated most of all that the core could choose to take anyone at a moment's notice. She did not want Raphael to leave her sight.

Raphael reached through the bars to put his arms around her, stroking her hair affectionately.

"You don't look well," he said, noticing her pale complexion. "Are you eating?"

She's kept her eyes on him and on Amy for days now, making sure the girl has been eating. It was her father, though, that was refusing sustenance. It was driving her insane. Was he doing this to make the force look bad? Was he doing this to prove a point? She didn't know. She knew he was a proud individual but this was taking it too far.

She came down to the cell herself, finally, on Wednesday, though she had sent requests to see if he would eat more than once. All of them went ignored. She was getting reports of him laughing, cursing, and hissing at the other officers.

Re-l went to the cell, stopping on the edge of it. She looked at him. "You're still refusing to eat, Mr. Sorel?"

Raphael's eyes glinted in the darkness of the cell-- the lights had not been turned up again, at his own request. As foolish as it made him feel to rot away in the dark like this, it was preferable to making the headache worse.

"As I told your officers and guards-- I do not want the blood of an animal," he said coolly.

Better that he was comfortable. Frankly, she was disgusted that people were treating him like a monster...as though there were no vampires in the city besides him. She folded her arms across her chest and watched him.

"And if human blood was offered?"

He sneered, his pale complexion and glowing eyes giving him an appearance that was far more monstrous, at least, than the ordinarily handsome noble usually seemed.

"In jest, or in earnest? It has been held over me as a dare between the guards. The fat one is frankly lucky I did not pull him through the bars and suck him dry."

That stirred a laugh out of him. "I assume he would taste like pork."

Dante met a slight hitch at the security check. Apparently they didn't like the fact that he was lugging around a large sword. Dante mildly agreed to let them take it, but Rebellion is quite stubborn and true to its name, and flew back into Dante's hand after he had already cleared security, fortunately without impaling anyone.

Dante had shrugged at them with his 'I told you' look. They ended up letting him take it with him.

And so he strode up to Raphael's cell.

"I don't think security likes me," he observed.

"Fitting. They don't like me, either," Raphael replied, not even bothering to look up from where he lay on the cot. "Of course they are probably offended I have been mocking them since I arrived, which I suppose I can understand."

He lifted his head slightly to glance at his visitor. "What do you want?"

"Heh. We met over the network, although you may or may not remember me from even earlier than that when you were running away from cops. Doesn't matter anyways; I'm here to make good on my offer to help you."

Raphael regarded him with a bored glance. "Are you a lawyer?"
