Who: Grell Sutcliff and YOU! When: Sunday, July 17, after sirens. Where: Anywhere Summary: Like a bad penny, Grell returns - as a Darkness Monster! Warnings: NC-17! TENTACLES! Nothing to see here folks, move along...
[ Grell will come back. Many had told William this; that Grell would more than likely return to Siren's Port in a few weeks time. William didn't need to be told this, though. He knew Grell come back.
Now, it was just a matter of patience, which, thankfully, William had an over abundance of. He kept telling himself not to dwell on the subject, not to let it distract him from his other responsibilities. There was no reason to. He just had to be patient and eventually Grell would show his crazy face again.
Then finally, tonight, while trying to occupy his mind with the book in front of him, William's attention is caught by something else. Something familiar and...
He immediately gets up from his placed tucked in bed, setting his book aside. And not even bothering to change from his striped pjs, summons his scythe and manifests into the darkness outside. He glances around, trying to pinpoint where that feeling was emanating from. ]
[ Not seeing anything around him, William finally looks down and sees a beautiful red rose pop out of the ground beside him.
Others had told him of this, as well. That before returning, Grell may come back as...something else entirely. A darkness monster.
This tiny rose hardly seems monstrous, though. In fact, Grell appeared more intimidating in his true form. But it is still Grell, in some way, so William can't help but kneel down and inspect the tiny flower closer. Even so, he remains on guard. ]
[ The rose's petals quiver happily as William bends down, and release a puff of sweet perfume. In the distance monsters are howling; and the corruption and rot of Darkness is gathering quickly. Yet the rose remains dewy fresh and exuberantly red. ]
Rose. Rose. Roooooose.
[ That's its only utterance, as if the only word it knows is its name. ]
He had heard about the monsters at night, and that alone was enough to keep him indoors. But still, curiosity will kill the cat, and finally it got to the point where Soma couldn't stand it anymore. So when he ventured out into the darkness, he was expecting horrific creatures of the night.
Not roses.
"What the..." he murmured faintly, crouching down to peer at one of them.
As Soma bends closer he'll see that this is no ordinary flower. It's got an abundance of very sharp teeth, for starters. And glasses, too. Do roses need to see?
Even so, it's smiling, apparently happy as a rose can be when surrounded by Darkness and decay. It strains up towards Soma as he bends near, releasing a cloud of intoxicating fragrance.
It didn't look like an Alura Une, but as soon as it actually spoke, Soma got the impression that's where it originated from. He let out a startled noise, falling backward, though not before getting a whiff of whatever it was it had just released.
He stumbled back as best he could, reaching into his coat for his knife.
[Dash usually wasn't out at night. Kazuma tended to get nervous if she was, and she didn't need him nagging her -- or at least, that was her excuse when asked. But tonight, she'd been out a little too late practicing her sweet moves. Then this weird red rain stuff started, and she's landed briefly to shake some of the water off of her in annoyance.
Then, she sees the flower. She happens to see it from behind.
It looks delicious! Well, she is kind of hungry. She decides to give it a small taste...]
[ The Grell rose is swaying happily, shining out brightly and unabashedly red in the Darkness. Even as a monster, Grell has an absolute need to attract attention. So when the pony draws near, the Grell rose is neither surprised nor dismayed... ]
[On this bloody, ill-omened night, the rose poking out of the cracked corner of a building is a breath of fresh air. Orpheus reaches out to wipe a few flecks of red liquid from its petals.]
Roses. Andrea loves roses. She was outside after the sirens, not really sure what the big deal was about the Darkness anyway. It's only night time, surely? She wanders through the town aimlessly, wandering where everyone is. The bloody rain spills down then, soaking her to the skin, and she begins to get scared. BLOOD RAIN? Blood? Though she's scared, she also thinks it's quite cool, so she wanders back, reasonably happily. And when she sees the small rose growing by the road side, she bends down, wishing to capture the beauty for herself.
People. The small rose loves people. People who go outside after the sirens, heedless of what horrors lurk in the shadows. People with their susceptible noses and sensitive flesh.
People. Lovely people.
"Rose~"
The rose smiles back at Andrea. And then releases a puff of heady perfume at her, designed to enchant the senses and erase all suspicion.
And now the rose loves Andrea, with her sweet, flattering words. It strains towards her, working its roots out of the pavement. A little rootlet reaches up towards her, as if to wave - or shake her hand.

A perfect, happy rose.
You know it's happy - because it's grinning. And is, inexplicably, wearing glasses. ]

Aren't you beautiful? The colour of fresh blood, all warm and running free. The most beautiful thing I've seen since I arrived here.
