Roses. In Siren's Port. In the Darkness.
Where all else is dereliction and decay, these red roses bloom recklessly with life. Sprouting directly from concrete and stone, they pop up in the unlikeliest of places: beneath a street lamp, nestled in a doorway, on a windowsill. Droplets of bloody rain glisten on their petals; and their heady fragrance wafts through the air.
Was it the bloody rain that made them grow? Or some other, unnatural force?
You might feel compelled to pause and admire the rose's beauty; to bend down and inhale its fragrance; or to open your window and attempt to bring this little bit of brilliant life inside.
But make no mistake. These roses are monstrous.
