[Having not been there long, and not really giving much of a damn about Redgrave, Reeve had gone on into work and skipped the funeral... which did no good as the fighting poured through the city, spreading from the well-to-do sectors through AGI and SERO territory into Sector 4.

The chances of him having family or friends caught up in this mess... is fairly high. Innocent people are going to be just as much at risk. And he's seen too much of this already to sit back and watch idly.

So, having spoken with the rest of his office and tried to make plans to shut Urban Dev down/lock it up (whether they'll listen to him is another story), Reeve plunges out into the mess.]

Calm down! Go back to your houses! Move underground if you have to... wait, come here!

[There are already people injured, and he pauses to cast a Cure spell over a gash in a younger woman's forehead before she slips off to find shelter. As soon as she's clear he dives back into the mess, dodging stray blows and shouting at anyone who will listen to calm the hell downHe ( ... )

I need to meet him, yes. I don't know if he'd be able to use it, but--

[He drops them back in his pocket, keeping a hand on them.]

Can't hurt to try, anyway.

You've talked to him, though, right?

[He glances over, looking a little nervous for Reeve's answer.]

A few times over the NV. Don't worry, he's fine. He's your friend, Jack. I'm not going to hate him.

Course you ain't. He's-- anyway, I weren't worried, just curious.

[ Bruce Wayne is useless in this mob, so for the first time, Batman is appearing in bright daylight. He hates it; it's not the heat, but the sheer brightness, delineating against his uniform, making him standard out from the crowd. But right now he needs to be Batman, and Batman he is, and his presence are clearing people - he has already stopped at least seven guns from being fired and countless people from being trampled to death.

This is insane. Which isn't surprising - mobs always are. What Reeves is shouting is just getting drowned in the shouting. And because of his efforts, he's going to be trampled.

Damnit.

Bruce swoops down, and he's grabbing onto Reeve's shoulder, trying to pull him up and away from the crowds that's trying to push him down. ]

They're not going to listen to you.

[Reeve has been in mobs before, but he's never been in a mob without some kind of security detail. And after all the times he's run out on the battlefield with his men, after the weeks spent trying to defend his fellow inmates- he's got no sense of self-preservation. It's the people that matter. The people- those innocents trapped in a mob, the young idiots who don't understand what they're doing--

And then someone large and dark is grabbing him and pulling at him, and Reeve's first reaction is, frankly, to pull his gun on him.]

Let go of--

On a man in the most bizarre costume he's ever seen, parading around in a cape, of all the stupid things, and a rubber mask, and-- Reeve's eye twitches. He almost smiles.

He wonders briefly if he's going mad.]

What in the name of the gods are you wearing?

[ Seriously, that's the only question this man has when someone grabs him from the crowd? Bruce's eyes twitches a little even as he swings upwards, to the rooftop, dropping Reeve the moment he gets on the ledge.

He knows that the costume, stark black and grey with all of its edges shown, is delineating and foreign and ridiculous in daylight. He designed it for the night, after all. ]

You have more things to care about right now. Stay out of the crowds; you were almost trampled to death.

[The rational part of Reeve's mind realizes this well-intentioned idiot is trying to 'help' him, despite the fact that he has enough combat experience to handle a riot-- unfortunately, the more dominant part of his mind is immediately terrified at being suddenly grabbed off of the ground by a complete stranger. While he manages to not reflexively fire his gun-- and it's a narrow thing, that-- his hand immediately goes into his pocket. To his Contain materia... and his hand begins to glow green as he casts Tornado.]

Let-- go-- of me, damn you!

[And it is, indeed, like a small tornado, one whose force is obviously restrained-- while it'll blow Reeve back further along the rooftop, he doesn't know what it'll do to his attacker, or care. Lesson to take here, Bruce: do not go grabbing people with PTSD. They don't respond well.]

[ The miniature tornado rips again him- but Bruce immediately flipped backwards, grabbing hold of the rooftop railing to stop himself from falling over. ]

I've let you go. [ Flatly, blankly. ]

Calm down.

Calm down? Calm down?

[First this... caped stranger comes barreling in, tries to tell him what to do, and then decides grabbing him and running off with him is a smart move? They're alone, there's no one to see if the freak in tights decides to kill him, and now he wants Reeve to calm down?]

I do not need your help, dammit, there are innocent people caught up in that riot that could be hurt--

[The gun is back up, steadied in both hands and aimed directly at the other man. This person could be anyone-- Deepground, a lackey of one of the companies, from the institution-- and without the anonymity of the crowds Reeve can't exactly escape unnoticed.]

Get away from me.

BOSS!

[She's heard before she's seen, and then the crackle of an ice spell blasts somewhere to the right, stopping a fire before it can do much more damage than the initial broken glass from the Molotov that caused it. Then, before you know it, there's a ninja looking all too at home in the mess and clearly a little worse for wear, though it's almost just the general expected grime and injury from a fight like this. She's grinning, but mostly for show.]

This place is feelin' a bit too like home, ya know? ...And it's still not as bad as the last time this happened.

No one's purposely going after the load bearing walls. That sure was a doozy of not fun.

[And Reeve's nearly desperate to get to her; his run-in with the 'caped crusader' being a complete fiasco, he's managed to get back down the fire escape looking a bit battered and more than a bit apprehensive. He nods, scanning her over for injury.]

Do you need a Cure? I have mine with me.

[He runs a hand through his hair irritably and almost seems surprised when it doesn't come back bloody. Hooray for open riots.]

I take it you've been helping out?
