While Izaya didn't practically celebrate Christmas, that didn't stop him from basking in the holiday spirit. He just adored how people seemed to stress over the preparations, gifts, party plans than actually enjoying the holiday itself. Bars are packed, homes empty, family arguments rising---Well, Izaya certainly had a way in viewing things.

In other words, he's going to have a field day.

The weather was shitty today, that he agreed with Shizuo. Thus, a red scarf secured his pale neck, the hood of his jacket keeping his head warm as he wandered the streets. He actually enjoyed random walks. After all, interesting things tend to happen when you least expect it. His theory was accurate, as he noted a familiar figure across the street; Shizuo certainly stood out since he was so ridiculously tall.

He regarded him dully from afar. He'd lie if he said he wasn't curios as he guessed that Shizuo is most likely searching for something. For now, he kept a low profile--merely observing.

Oddly enough, that was one thing they had in common: Christmas wasn't all that important to Shizuo, either. The idea of exchanging gifts was a nice one, but it also tended to cause a lot of undue stress. He usually only got something for Kasuka and Tom, and if he didn't get anything in return, well... he didn't really care ( ... )

Shizuo will have to find a job if he wanted to keep that nasty habit of smoking, Izaya figured it would be fun to watch the process of continuous failures and terminations. He wouldn’t even have to be involved in making it difficult for him to maintain a job, he didn’t have to try back home, and he wouldn't have to here.

He was heading for the train station. Izaya, subconsciously, followed the taller man; it was out of habit, really! In addition, it was the only way to keep up with him, as Shizuo probably won’t be posting to the network like most people do. He wasn’t worried about getting caught, even if he got noticed, escaping Shizuo is not the hardest task.

However, he was in the mood for a good laugh, and so-he pulled out his phone from his pocket and decided to send Shizuo a text. This time, it wasn’t anonymous.

‘ Need help with directions? ‘

It seemed like since he'd come here, his phone buzzed in his pocket more often than not. It made sense when there was so much more that could be done with it, but he almost considered just ignoring it so he could focus on where he was going. In fact, some part of him felt like he should.

Still, some of the people he'd gotten to talking with while stuck in this place weren't so bad, and so he fished the orange phone out of his pocket and flipped it open.

There was a text message waiting for him. In the "From:" section, he saw a name that would have made him crush the device in his hands if that was still possible: Orihara Izaya.

He immediately started to spin in a circle, searching the area for that pest so that he could put him in his place. However, just like during their first so-called encounter here, Izaya was nowhere to be seen. Huffing in anger, Shizuo started to press down on the buttons of his phone as hard as he could as he typed out a reply.

' Why the hell would I ever accept help from you?Once it had sent, he kept ( ... )

I don't use this girl enough. :I notamare December 21 2010, 23:38:07 UTC
If Shizuo wasn't paying attention, he might not have noticed the young woman silently stepping out into his field of vision, her arms folded and feet bare. She was still some few feet away from him, but as she hadn't expected to run into anyone on her walk, she held herself perfectly still, like a creature about to bolt, staring in his direction as motionlessly as a statue.

After a moment, she tilts her head in what may be the equivalent of a nod. "Good day." Ew cigs.

It took him a while to notice that someone was there, but when Shizuo spotted the bare feet he paused in his stroll and glanced over. As he looked the stranger over, it became obvious that there was something striking about her; mainly, her pure white features. It wasn't the sort of thing that he saw often in Japan, but it wasn't something to judge about either. People couldn't help their appearance, after all.

She had looked scared for a moment, something that had caused a brief twisting in his stomach. He was used to seeing that kind of expression on people's faces when he passed by, and he tended to do his best to ignore it.

But then she greeted him, and his mood wasn't bad enough to ignore her. He lifted a hand and nodded. "Hey."

Don't take it personally, she's naturally skittish around people. She draws herself inwards slightly, her eyes focusing on Shizuo's cigs for a long moment.

Watch watch, her fail social graces will have her pitching a innocent question out of left field. "Why do you befoul the air?"

Catch, Shizuo.

Her weird way of talking was noted, but Shizuo knew enough people (Simon, for instance) who spoke oddly that he didn't think too much of it. So long as she didn't start rambling on like the doctor, things would probably be fine.

It did take him a minute to realize what she was asking, though, and he glanced at his cigarette, holding it between his fingers as he let it fall to his side for a moment. This wasn't something he'd had to deal with often; smoking was so common in Japan that he'd never really been questioned about it before.

It took him a few seconds of silence to find an answer, but he eventually replied. "It calms me down."

Freshly out of the hospital and already Maya had somehow managed to slip away from under the watchful eyes of her self-proclaimed guardians. Twenty-four hour Maya surveillance, indeed ( ... )

One second, Shizuo had been minding his own business, and the next? He had someone scrabbling their hands against his back, having clearly tripped. The gasp he heard caused him to turn around right in time to catch the girl and steady her ( ... )

I'm so excited :D!! ♥ acemedium December 22 2010, 05:50:19 UTC
Before she knew what was happening, she felt someone's hands on her. Her first instinct was to freeze up in terror. (And remember being thrown and choked - he was back, wasn't he? Back to finish her-) But as her senses snapped back to her, she came to two realizations of her own. Namely, whomever it was was only steadying her - and there was also that this person was awfully familiar.

"It's you!" she returned, a voice a little louder and pitch a little higher than his. "...Mr. Shizuo!"

The terror on her face dissolved, became relief, and then embarrassment.

"Ah, S-Sorry! The ground was plotting against me! It waited until my guard was down, and bam! Sneak attack!"

She paused to look at him properly- she'd only seen him on her little NV screen, after all. And to confirm that it really was him - though it had to be. Geez, he was really tall, at least Godot's height, if not bigger. And still the bartender outfit and shades... Oh well, it looked pretty cool. She gave him a little awkward grin.

Good, this was the same girl. It would have been a pain if he'd somehow gotten things mixed up in his head, which was definitely something that had happened before. But she knew his name, so that spoke for itself. Besides, her excitable attitude that he'd seen on his cell phone came through even more in person ( ... )
