For once, she actually willed herself to really go out and visit the Felton Convention Center. And it was absolutely worth it. She didn't go with anyone, knowing that it'll be hard to arrange schedules, but the fun she had from watching the films made it all worth it!

She wandered into the front hall, after watching Pesche Guatiche's film. She cried easily at movies even with an inkling of drama, so her eyes seemed rather moist.

Joe was excited- the big day! And there was also no chance he was going to stay glued to his entry-mate's side...because Sander Cohen was off hobnobbing somewhere with boring people running the festival, most likely.

It was a weird sort of competition- Joe was used to races and games and things, riddles through his memories, and sports. Things which had clear and instant winners, right away. But the wait to be judged made him feel impossibly restless, and so he wandered about the open hall.

There was also the odd business of 'dressing sharp'. Cohen had made a big deal about showing up for the screening 'presentably', which meant borrowing Riku's extra shirt and dress pants, along with a vest. He'd refused to let the old man shove him into a tailcoat, because it was bad enough he looked like Lion's Gate security. How could Riku stand to wear this all stuffy stuff to work every night ( ... )

"Ah..." Alice found herself startled by the sudden offering of cake. She looked up through tear-misted eyes to see who was offering it. He looked... familiar.

"Um... I'm alright..." she swiped at the corners of her damp eyes. "But, I think I've seen you around before? Your face looks familiar."

[Alice's eyes watered and a few tears fell when she saw the foot come down to take the poor beetle's life. It was all so sad! After that whole journey!]

[After everything Pesche had said about the movie and his artistic abilities, Keigo had to come watch it.

It wasn't a surprise that Pesche had made a movie about a bug. He did kind of look like one. What was surprising was that someone actually seemed moved by the thing.]

Did you really think it was sad?

"Swept Aside" (A Cohen & Fieldman Production) madeinoblivion September 4 2010, 14:07:50 UTC
BASED ON A TRUE STORY...

Swept Aside tells the riveting tale of newcomer Phil Cane, a janitor with a sense of justice and a heart of gold, who overcomes all prejudice and odds to become a hero to loose women and schoolchildren of Siren's Port. After saving a striking AGI stripper from hyperthermia in his very first day in Siren's Port (slight change in seasons to accommodate filming weather), Phil goes on to stop a busload of kids from being driven into a volcanic 'core' (which has apparently emerged in Sector 7) by a nefarious cultist (curiously renamed Lamb Culpepper). The film's tagline is: "Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow ( ... )

[Utena has tried very hard to politely stay awake during the movie. It’s like when Touga used to take her to the Planetarium however, and she falls asleep unwillingly by the end of it. When everyone else begins applauding, so does she though rather self-consciously.]

[Well, Billy wasn't PLANNING to go to the film festival. But he knew this was happening.

And now he kind of wishes he DIDN'T go.

Though... "Phil Cane"... "Billy Coen"... It's not that close, right? Nobody's gonna make the connection, right?

... right?]

"Missed Connections", Miku's movie mansionprisoner September 4 2010, 15:44:45 UTC
Filmed in an old-fashioned and elegant style, the young Miku's amateur has a softly peaceful state to it despite the subject matter. Although it's only twenty minutes long, it is well-paced and covers a lot of Sector 8. There is almost no dialogue, relying solely on music cues and mood to show the changes. It seems she had managed to get some of the younger citizens of the Port to help her, acting out the roles in a playful and pleasant manner. The story tells of two people, friends who had travelled a long way to get to a place they thought would allow them to live a happy life. But when they get there, one of the friends easily integrates into the new and apparently clique-ish society, changing their attitude and eventually abandoning the other, who has a much harder time. The second of the friends becomes part of a society of other newcomers, who decide to wage war upon the people who lived there already, and the ones that had managed to fit in, but when the two groups come to fight, the friends cannot lift a hand against each ( ... )

The Vampire Friend by Sunako Nakahara horror_otaku September 6 2010, 06:22:23 UTC
Sunako seems to have used the video function on her NV to record this. I'm going to pretend that's possible. Viewers see the camera swing around as it's put into place and then she steps in front of it.

[Mordecai sort of wants to excuse himself and lose his lunch over yonder. He doesn't mind bloodsplatter...

... But he can't take it in that people will live in such a filthy home like that. :| ]
