Sylar's in jail here. [ She pauses. ] But I can't see him staying in there for very long.

Is there anybody here that would mind teaching me how to defend myself? [ She pauses again. ]

And how do you lock things from people so they won't see it? [ Trying to get around the terms in that weird anonymous text-- ]

What do you need? [ Apologies Claire if her sounding like death isn't very comforting... ]

And to lock something it's a filter - either specifically to someone like I have or more general but away from people.

Just ... ways to protect myself from somebody who wants to kill me. I don't care if it's with a weapon or not.

More away from people than to a certain person. [ Even though it's kind of hard with an anonymous person who called the shots. ]

I can help you in that, both armed and unarmed.

That one I'm afraid I've never done but I would suspect that it wouldn't be too dissimilar from privating to someone.

I'd appreciate it.

How do you make it private to somebody?

I can help you with the lockin' thing, but 'fraid I'm none too good on the self defense line. I can scrap pretty well, and I'm good with a gun, but I've never taught anyone anything like that.

Scrap? [ What are your strange fightin' terms! ]

I'd appreciate your help with the locking.

Yehknow, street fightin'? It's not really a style so much as 'do whatever you can t' not get hit'. Never really learned in any actual fightin' styles, like all those fancy martial arts and whatnot.

Street fighting? Isn't that illegal?

Lock? How do you mean? An encryption?

Yeah, something like that. I just want to keep some people out of my conversations on the network.

It's easy enough to set up, if you need one.

I think I taught you how to shoot the last time. Wanna try again?

Yeah, if you wouldn't mind teaching me again.

You know you don't even have to ask. Sure.

When are you free?

You can filter your network conversations to specific people or away from specific people and enforce this with encryption, but the enforcement is only as good as the encryption.

Switches to text, filtered to Claire @85% unhackable

For example, this part of the message is filtered to you alone, but a competent hacker could spot the message and hack the encryption. If you're really concerned, you should be talking to an expert: I just know how to use commercial encryption without making significant errors.

What sort of NV do you have? I'd like to tell you how but the details depend on your NV. You load in an encryption scheme - or there may be a default one already there - and there's probably an option to use it in the menus somewhere, but likely in an entirely different place on yours than on mine.

It's a tablet. I saw some ads in the city and it looked almost exactly like my NV.

Helen said something about it being in the settings, but I don't see it on here. [ She pauses.] I can't even find a settings panel.

[ lmao why are ipads so difficult to figure out. ]

Is there any sort of help function online? I'd look for "filter" and "encryption."

Um- hold on. [ She brings down the video feed (she can't see Emma but the video is still recording). She's like this for a few moments, clearly reading something on the NV screen. ]

I found... something. But it makes absolutely no sense.
