11 [video]: Czelsaw Meyer Is Legitimately Concerned By An Article In The Newspaper

Nov 27, 2011 03:42

[Just After Morning Sirens]

[A newspaper is being held up to the NV. The device is recording face-up from a flat surface, looking at a ceiling that someone familiar with the room might identify as the one in Magneto's condo, but there really isn't enough time for that. Because a newspaper covers most of the screen, an article about the bodies ( Read more... )

... What makes you think that he can't be stopped?

There were other killers on the train. Hired killers from the mafia, and none of them could stop him.

Were they all working together or what?

Two separate groups, dozens on each. It was chaos, they all killed so many... but the Rail Tracer, he was the most brutal, the scariest!

Calm down now. There's no reason to assume the worst yet if no one's gone up against it.

You don't understand! Others went against him on the train I rode, real killers from the mob, and none of them could stop him. This is bad!

Those are human assassins. We have some of the greatest minds in several universes here on this island, on top of serious warriors. It'll be fine.

I wish I could believe it, miss. [But he's still skerred. :(]

I think so. I've heard he's gone by some others, that he sheds names and identities just like clothes, but I don't know them.

[A lie, but in order to maintain his own identity, he won't reveal knowledge he gains in the future.]

I guess it's easy not to be scared of monsters when you're a monster too.

[The newspaper article had been a curiosity (kind of a gruesome way to go, wasn't it?), but even when he listened to Czes talk about the Rail Tracer, it had only sounded a little familiar-like he'd heard it somewhere before.

It's not until the name 'Vino' is mentioned that Firo realizes that the place he'd heard 'Rail Tracer' before had been from Claire. He's sharply reminded, too, of Claire's puzzling presence in Czeslaw's dream; in the days since then, he'd forgotten to ask either of them about it. But it makes sense now, to an extent: if Czes had seen Claire at work, it really could be the stuff of nightmares for the kid ( ... )

[Firo looks composed, but there's an edge of frustration to his voice:] If Vino's the one who did it, I don't think you'll need to worry too much about it. That guy always has his reasons.

I'd be more concerned about who the victims were. [And what they'd done to deserve it-or to get a hit put out on them.]

[Oh, Firo. You've always been such a friend to Claire, and never knew about the fated meeting of Czeslaw and the Rail Tracer - only Czeslaw's phobia of redheads.]

Anyone who'd drag someone from a train is just plain crazy. [He mutters it darkly.] That's plenty to worry about.

[There's a frown on Firo's face now.] Maybe the method was a bit gruesome, but it's just his line of work. You know that back home, 'Vino' is well-known as an assassin, right?

Putting aside the deaths today, if he killed some people on the train you rode, I'm certain he had a good reason for it-and stopped when it was time to stop.

[But more than that... If Czes had really spent a lot of time with Firo like he'd said, surely he'd met Claire once or twice-and not as the genius assassin 'Vino'. So why the need for this...? He wouldn't put it past Claire to spread the name of Vino around a bit, but Czeslaw linking him so quickly to the murders in the paper and trying to point him out is something unexpected. Unwelcome, even. Firo has known Claire for years, after all, and Czeslaw only a matter of months.]

Have you told the police?

Run to the coppers? I don't think they can help...!

[ Okay ignoring the fact that he just said coppers in a serious context-- ]

Maybe not, but if they know who he is then maybe they can raise public awareness against him. There are people in this place who could take him. [ Like Peter. ]

[Whatever lady, that kind of thing was fine in the thirties.]

I don't think anyone should try going after him. Maybe just stay out of his way. But then none of us could take the train...!
