[ It's been a while since Yako last posted on the network, and there's a lot she could talk about: the nightmares, friends who have passed on, detective work, how glad she is to be back in her own body. Instead, she's holding up a pumpkin to the camera, looking a little too cheerful. ]You know, I've never carved one of these before. Halloween isn't ( Read more... )

[Slight smile:]

I'm a ghost stories supporter, myself. But you know that.

Attached to my hair, probably. It would be a shame to leave her out, you know?

[ She's not sure what Neuro has planned for Halloween, but she's sure it involves the words 'cockroach suit' and she's determined to avoid him. ]

Costumes should not be optional!

It might be a little hard for some people to carve pumpkins if they're in full costume, don't you think?

Which is more important, cutting up an inanimate ball or getting a cool costume to terrorize the night with?

There aren't going to be any prizes for best costume, you know.

[She sounds audibly amazed.]

Ye carve gourds in celebration of this day? Such strange new customs this world has.

Well met, Yako. Thou doest well?

It's apparently pretty common! Though the original tradition was to use turnips instead of pumpkins... Which seems pretty weird to me. [ She'd rather eat the turnip itself. ]

I've been busy, I guess. How about you, Miss Sheila?

La, I hath never seen such a task. Gourds wert kept for food in mine own time. We never dist have so many as to allow such festivity.

As busy as thee! I hath been at work, and amongst the people. Hath met many new faces as well.

Well, I think the idea is that you eat what's inside and use the rind for the decorations. [ She sounds a little unsure about that, though. ] It must seem weird to you, though.

It's always good to meet new people, isn't it? Have you met anyone who came from a time and place like your own yet?

How is a pumpkin supposed to keep evil spirits away?

[The tone of Frau's voice says very clearly that it's a stupid idea and whoever came up with it is a moron. Honestly.]

Well, people originally used turnips, but I guess pumpkins were easier to carve. The idea is to carve scary faces into them then put them on your doorstep. When spirits see them, then they'd get frightened away... or that's the theory, anyway. [ Despite Frau's tone of voice, her own response is cheerful enough. ]

Hold on... you're the guy who likes sleeping in coffins, aren't you?

Evil spirits aren't worried about scary faces.

[Hell, they're usually the ones with the scariest ones. And... crap.]

What about it?

Just wondering if you might be one of those evil spirits yourself. [ No, she's just kidding. Really. ]

I don't think I got your name last time, did I?

[Pumpkin carving, huh? Sounds like a lot of fun! But Sora doesn't answer at first, just quirks his head at the camera like he's puzzled by something.]

Yako?

[ Heyyyy, here's someone she hasn't in a while. ]

Hey, Sora. What is it?

[Sora isn't the most perceptive person, but when it's something he's seen more than a few times, he's more inclined to pick it out: that look Yako's got... it's kind of like when Riku or Donald or Goofy push themselves a little too hard. It's not as prominent on Yako, and it's not like she's just fought through a crowd of enemies but... she looks a little worn out somehow.]

You okay over there?

[ Yako certainly wasn't expecting that question from Sora, of all people, so she's taken aback for a moment-- she can't quite keep the surprise off her face.

Still, after half a heartbeat, it melts into something a little more relaxed. ]

Things have been a little rough lately, but I'm not going to let it get me down. [ Honesty is probably the best policy, and she doesn't want to brush off his concern. ] Don't worry about it.
