Map 11 - Video

Aug 15, 2011 17:45

[Video feed starts with Nami in the back kitchens of Brooke’s Restaurant. The clatter of pots, plates and chefs can be heard, and once in a while a white capped chef can be seen darting past behind her. All busy.]

[Nami looks far more stressed out then she has in a while.]

First off: Ace is no terrorist. He wouldn’t have committed suicide either ( Read more... )

I'll take both right now. I have some very good local chefs right now who are willing to do some training.

Yeah? I've got plenty of work to offer. Cooks, prep work, busboy, bar tender, entertainment, bakery, or just running the musical shop.

Some how this place got bigger then I ever intended it to be...

It's obvious, from the implications of the video alone, that the terrorist accusations were nothing but sensationalist slander.

I'm sorry for your losses.

Terrorist. Ha. Suicide. Heh. The news will post anything as long as it makes us look bad. Ace was... is a good guy. Clearly someone out there just has too much time on their hands.

Thanks though. It'll be fine. They need to be home anyhow. [Well... not Ace, but... yeah. Fully embracing the idea that they went home...] Maybe they'll stay there this time.

Apparently not everyone in media shares Mr. Kent's sense of press ethics.

...is that for the best?

Mr. Kent? Do we have another Newcomer on the press again? Hopefully he doesn't get edited out or covered up.

[a considering long pause] Mmm... for some of them it should be fine. Home, as dangerous as it is seems easier then this place. Ace however... well, perhaps he'll pop up again.

It feels like a lot of the newcomer businesses are running on empty lately. If you need a hand- well...well no, I've got Sector Zero and Twins and the stadium to juggle, so I guess I can't-

Maybe I'll see if Namine wants a job. She could probably at least help keep the floor running.

I'm sorry about your friends. The news sure likes to make up any lie that'll make newcomers look bad.

But they could come back again, someday! Namine, and Xion, and even Kairi and Sora did.

Joe. [a smile in her voice. He's such a good kid.] I know how that is. I have these two places and Sector Zero also, which I why I'm calling for more workers. I should be looking for more workers at Sector Zero also. With Ace out there goes another one.

Namine? She's been around for a while hasn't she? If she wants a job I'm sure I can find a safe place for her.

[A pause. Oh he said she just came back. That explains the girl. Well..] Yes, Brooke's returned before. Perhaps he will again. I think most of my crew has been in and out by now. I think it's just that insulting news article that shocked me the most.

She only came back last month- she's still not totally sure what she wants to do. So maybe she could help you out, while she's figuring that out for herself?

SERO plays dirty, Nami. They're probably so sore their building got wrecked that they wanted to drag someone's name through it. But- you know what? Good riddance! If I had to go, I'd go out raising hell and bringing some lousy SERO business to the ground too, I hope. So even if he didn't mean it? Good for Ace!

I see. Of course. Send her over at anytime. Brooke's is really well secured and I take care of my people. Even if it's just temporary we'll find her a place here.

You're right. I bet he's sitting somewhere grinning like an idiot. Though don't you go running off anywhere either, Joe. Especially don't go messing about with those damn rotguts! [She knows about you and your Darkness thing. Who doesn't, fanboy]

I am sorry that you seem to be having a rough time.

[A pause, he is sincere. However he doesn't wish to pry or dwell on something she likely doesn't want to, so he moves on]

I might be of service musically, though I am no professional. I have also ran my own tea shop, so managing a shop would also be quite possible.

We all go through it, just once in a while I wish the Port gave me a break.

[A small sigh, and then back to business however.] Managing a tea shop and having some idea about music is already a step ahead of a lot of people. [She doesn't know this person and wonders how new he is] You're interested in a job then?

The world can be a difficult place, especially one where people seem to come and go without any control.

[He inclines his head] Yes, I would be interested in the job.

I've been dealing with it for over a year now. I really shouldn't be surprised anymore.

[A nod is given, and she pokes a few buttons on the NV, sending him location information to his NV] Alright then. Brooke's is on the corner of Helbook and Sun Rider in sector three. Show up today or tomorrow and I'll find a good place for you. Ah...so, who am I talking to, so I know?

[Zoro knows why Nami is upset. Ace is--or was, but that remains uncertain, he could still come back--a good friend of hers on this island. It wasn't difficult for him to see that they were close. This thing on the news wasn't entirely unexpected. Zoro didn't know Luffy's brother that well, but the guy did have a thing for being flashy; he had proven as much when they saw him in Alabasta. Still, it seemed to come out of nowhere this time and he wasn't so sure it was a pointed attack on SERO ( ... )

[This might have come a bit later. She's collected and back on the business track. She's still bothered by everything today, but she's holding it together better then thought]

Some luck. I think I might have a few people coming in today and tomorrow. Things are looking up. How about the cows? [Yeah, no, she's going to be on you about that. Those darling girls need someone to look after them and she has NO idea what Marco's set up is there...]

[By this point, Zoro is dutifully seeking out bovine. And, as probably expected, has instead found himself on the farthest opposite point on the island relative to their location. Finding things sucks.

He is obviously confused about where he is, giving the beach area a frustrated sort of once-over before looking at his NV. He's relieved that Nami is willing to take care of the business end of Brooke's--let Zoro defend it any day, but he can't keep customers coming back with his scowl, nor is he good with business management in general and he'd rather not be forced into it with the restaurant. Being promoted to co-owner of the flower shop was bad enough... Then again, Zoro knows he would fight to keep Brooke's open if it ever came down to it. And he stops his line of thought there because he is supposed to be looking for those blasted cows.]

I'm going, [he asserts with a little more force than a simple statement needs, but he's still not arguing it.]
